one easy way to do it is to get the unit's armor reduction and add an ability which gives negative armor that way the reduction becomes 0 and the next time you deal damage it will be pure as long as it is not reduced by the armor type problem with this is that you might need a lot of abilities and yes spells seem to deal pure damage
^ U can test it by urself. I used to say like what u said. But it's true that Pure damage is the combination of Chaos attack type and Universal damage type.
For Shade: Universal damage IS reduced by magic regist but isnt blocked by magic immune. It can be reduced and can be amplified.
For Kitabatake: Gameplay Constant will only change the armor reduction for attack type. Meaning that if u change the Normal armor to take 100% of Hero attack type, if the unit has 10 armor, armor type normal, and it is attacked by a unit that has Hero attack type, the damage still is reduced by the armor value.
Chaos damage is not reduced by any armor type ''it deals full damage''(but of you changed it in the gameplay constants(who knows? Maybe you changed it.) Universal means it can go through anything.
