A cinematic made for "Speed Mapping Contest #1".

This is a fast spaced cinematic I have been doing last few days. The cinematic is based on The Chosen Ones - campaign. The cinematic tells a story about Phodom and Thoumas. Both are dragon slayers. The story of the cinematic is based on the age when the war still on. Phodom's and Thoumas' mission was to kill a powerful darkness being. However, the mission wasn't that simply as they thought...

This cinematic is open source, so you can learn how to make for example cinematics or effects. If you use any material from the cinematic such as triggers or models please credit me or the maker of the model in your project. Thanks and enjoy.

Generally not bad, but still not really good. The terrain was satisfying, yet the tiles you used in the village, actually the only tile you used, dirt was terribly misplaced and ugly.
The cameras were average to lacking, with a lot of to fast ones, such as the one shifting between the skeleton and one of the guys, and some of the cameras were static.
The dialog was fine, I guess. Man don't have breast, they have chest. A few other typos and grammar time mistakes. The beginning was "over made". "Let us kill him! Yes! Let's kill him! Let's kill him my friend!" I don't know exactly how it went but it didn't do the effect you wanted it to do.
To continue, you overused the effects. Really, it's not all in the effects you use. The part where the guy shifted among arrows was odd. Why would he shift among them when he could just blink out? It made my computer lag (Effects) a bit and it wasn't really that special.
And as Septimus had written, it's a bit unreal that they stop in the middle of the combat and chat a bit.
To conclude, a average/lacking cinematic, after some thinking I decided to give it a 2/5 (Lacking) rating but still Approved.
I was rethinking should I give it a 3 perhaps, but I gave a 3 to much better cinematics. Anyway if you are willing to improve I am always willing to re-check it.

Aeroblyctos, as far as I know. You cannot use a readily make map for a contest.

From what I seen at this cinematic, it seems like you copy a few idea from my cinematic. XD

By the way, I notice your cinematic are missing a few basic setup such as turn off the ambient sound.

And it was a bad idea to use wait action for a battle cinematic, I notice the arrow was bounce off even before Thoumas play attack animation.

If this map was view by Infrane view, I would said a sfx abuse have occur in this cinematic.

3/5 from me.

All ideas are 100% mine of the cinematic. I haven't check your cinematic yet.

Hehe, seems like we have same idea for some battle scenario.

And about waits, I do mine cinematics with my own way just as I have done all other cinematics in TCO.

Using wait function for battle cinematic was rather a bad idea, although it speed up the work. :=/

two minor bugs

1.you can see the end of the world->use fog to fix it
2.lock head of X unit to Y unit, sometimes units had unnaturally turned head, i.e. 90 degrees from the straight view, and more, even 90 is big, i would say like 0-60 is OK)

Can't do anything about models, I'm not a model maker. I see I chose a bad model, two guys already tried to fix but both failed, sadly.

Okay I updated the the cinematic. I added that fog and removed ambient sounds.

lol, thats has nothing to do with models.

Just when you want one unit to face another unit, and they stay in specific angle (i.e. more than |60| degrees, use a)also lock chest to unit or b)make unit face unit

I saw very epic moments like ''Evade arrows'' and ''Prepare to shoot''
Suggestions:
• Terrain is empty once again. Add more variations
• How Thoumas could be soo stupid. Even I know the sceleton was going to revive :D
• Puppeter died in one shot. I think he should have some fighting power ot atleast say something...
Well nice one Aero. 3/5

Aero use too much Camera with 0.00 seconds.

lol....

I guess people didn't liked after all my super effects. :p

They like it, but some don't because it was consider as sfx abuse and probably lag a computer that cannot support that much sfx.

I thought this kind of cinematic would very entertaining. I guess I was wrong in the end...

The entertainment was positive, but many flaw. I guess that's the price it paid when something was make in quite a rush. Oh well, that's speed mapping for us. Don't you agree?

I have made all my cinematics with same way to the campaign. Many have said that they are good. This is why I wonder why I get just get two points. Is it that all have lied to me that the cinematics in the campaign are bad? This just makes me wonder that are my all cinematic in the campaign bad? This one here I spend really much time to perfect. If this is just have two points of five, are the all other cinematics in the campaign 1 which means "unapproved".

It's really hard to believe that and this feeling if it's true makes me not wanting to continue the campaign anymore. Is this all I have learned from few years? Making cinematics two years for the campaign and I just get 2/5?

I think I have two points where I'm strong. In all other I'm just average or poor map maker. The first one is ideas and the second one is cinematics. If the other one isn't strong the campaign isn't good because it focuses to the cinematics.

Come on, start to post something positive also. This is what we map makers want... Not only negative sides. We want encourage!

I though me, bounty and restor already explain some of it. :=/

Cause they are too lenient at quality. When you meet a really really really really really tough critic, you could cry. That's how I feel when I met one.

It's really hard to believe that and this feeling if it's true makes me not wanting to continue the campaign anymore. Is this all I have learned from few years? Making cinematics two years for the campaign and I just get 2/5?

Don't feel sad, I even feel that same way. One of my cinematic get 4/5 at here, but it get disapprove at wc3c.net.

You can understand perfectly well how tough some people can be, don't you?

Also, years of mapping isn't important. But the knowledge we acquire is what makes it important. There is somebody who been mapping about 3 years and his skill was still lacking. I met this guy at garena when he test his map. Believe it or not? He doesn't even know what is memory leak till he met me.

Surf tutorial frequently and we might acquire a better knowledge, I don't even know a ambient sound need to be turn off till I view infrane tutorial about cinematic.

Come on, start to post something positive also. This is what we map makers want... Not only negative sides. We want encourage!

I remember Rising_Dusk once said "If your map was indeed awesome, it would get praise".

I remember 1 of my cinematic get a rather negative response, but among those negative view. It only have 1 positive feedback and that was "There is some really good shot".

Don't feel sad, keep it up with the work. Practice makes perfect, don't you agree?

Remember that there is always a limit with that "tough critic". Some guys just make tough critic because they can't do better and want just to annoy people.

It have 2 type, 1 is the one you mention and the other with the intention of learning and to help other.

Yea, but I'm not here for practice. I'm here making my final project.

Errr, it was some sort of expression.

Off topic : When would you make Fratz cinematic, I am waiting for that.

Aero don't become sad. TCO is great really.

Prologue
This much is for improvement purpose
I made it big so it can get as much improvement as possible

1.....Loading screen does not show where it happens
2.....In the first scene I am seeing their legs' movement in the beginning? Better camera angle. Also the camera went through one of them.
3.....their movement for some time is odd after the 2 become visible.
4.....Music starts afterwards the slow movement
5.....You made a destroyed town or a small settlement. Did you not? It was barren except a fountain.
6.....In the scene the 2 of them enter the town there is no skeleton there but in the next scene there is. Some animation for his coming into the scene would have been better.
7.....When Thoumas attacks the skeleton then at some of the attacks the skeleton is already hit by the attack
8.....When the skeleton fires the arrows after the flash then Thoumas animation of teleporting takes out the fun from the scene. I was not able to see at most of it where he went. Although it is fast paced but still some visibilty of his positions will surely help.
9.....There were clear gaps between the arrows.
10.....Better animation for resurrection of the skeleton if possible.
11.....When both of the 2 were sending waves of attacks towards each other many of them were hitting Phodom.
12.....At the scene of explosion if you could place some animation of Phodom actually intervening the attack it will e much better.
13.....At the scene when Thoumas takes down the skeleton for the second time the puppet master is clearly visible. At this moment all the suspense ended for me. I guessed who the person is & it turned out to be true. It also looked odd that Phodom was directly looking in that direction but did not see him.
14.....When Phodom attacked the skelton with the fire lines some were a clear miss. They went in a direction different form where the skelton was present at time of giving the line of fire.
15.....When Phodom says "This one you won't evade" then the skelton teleports time & again. This scene should be improved as it is not clear what he is doing. It may appear as if he is
changing direction (That was my first thought).
16......The animation of the attack should be clear instead of clear screen.
17......The animation of Thoumas hands lightning should go after he dies if possible.

What i liked in it
>Good music
>Good models
>Good animations (you are a master on that)
>Story (i played TCO & 7 prologue cinematic for that will be really great)
My Rating : 3/5
the earlier 2/5 was a typo. Sorry for that. Noticed afterward but you had already read that so thought will tell with the review

I know that you will not be able to improve till the contest is over but after that improve it.
Also good luck with the epic campaign:thumbs_up:

3/5.
Crazy moves. Too much talking. Is it a hunt+fight or a "yo mama" contest?
Thoumas wasn't just stubborn but also naive. The skeleton rose the first time. What made him (or even Phodom) think it won't again?
