Private messages missing formatting buttons

Can someone explain to my dumb ass why the PM formatting box is different from the main thread reply formatting box? I get I can type all the same shit manually but it's annoying when I want to liberally use lists in my PMs but the formatting doesn't actually show in the text box (ofc it works when previewed/sent).

Hmm, seems only to affect PM replies. You're correct it's all there in the initial PM box. I checked some old ones and it doesn't matter if I initiated the PM or received it. I also have the Human theme on? Honestly checked my preferences and couldn't find where I set the theme so all I can tell you is it's not the leafy one.

Also Insert Image works differently in PM reply. In thread reply it asks for an image file via click-browse/drop but in PM reply it expects a link.

I tested a PM reply and I am seeing the same thing, although I am now using a different computer where the screenshot function is not working at the moment. But I would agree, although I didn't expect it, I see the same issue you describe.
