As quite a few of you know, Pokemon X and Y are just around the corner (as of this post, they're being released in five days world-wide.
I think the Hive should get in on the action. I've gone through multiple sections (off-topic, games and others) and have noticed that there are quite a few pokemon threads. Along with this, the section (with possible subsections) would always be active for this reason.
There would be a main section (Pokemon)
Then there would be multiple sub-sections
- Pokemon General Discussion (Pokemon discussions about games, the anime and such would be held in here.)
- Pokemon Strategies (This is where most of the traffic would come from, I used to own a forum that really wasn't popular at all, but then when the last pokemon games came out, I decided to add in a Pokemon section and make strategies. In less than two months, my forum jumped up from 50 users to 1000 users. )
X and Y are setting a new standard, far more than when Black and White came about (which is what I did).
So there would be several clear advantages to adding these sections.
- Capitalizing on the incoming wave of people looking for X and Y competitive strategies (I have over 400 strategies that I have written that I could post in the new sections, + the wave of strategies that would come from Pokemon fans on here as well). Site traffic would boom. (If anyone such as a staff member needs proof of this traffic boom, I'll gladly pm the link to my site or post it here if given permission, I'm not going to post it out-right lest it be considered advertising.)
- Bring a new wave of users to the Hive Community, and possibly get some of said users into the Warcraft / Starcraft modding community. The demographic of competitive Pokemon players is ages 15 - 25 on average, (stats from my forum site).
What I would do to help make this section work:
- Take the 400 something strategies that I've written and post them in said sections (400 new topics right off the bat)
- Make a list of all Pokemon threads in all the other section that apply and send it to the respective mods of said sections so they could move them to the new sections.
- Advertise on the multiple Pokemon communities that I go on (namely, the simulator Pokemon Online [they allow advertising for Pokemon Strategies], Smogon's Simulator [same rule applies], and of course, Facebook (which I have an endless audience basically.
The reason I want these sections to work:
- I've been playing Pokemon since I was three years old (I'm 20 now), and would like to see a section / sections implemented on here.
- It would boost site activity instantly and would bring a whole new range of users to the Hive.
- Pretty sure a good chunk of the Hive are fans of Pokemon.
If anyone needs clarification on anything or have any questions, feel free to ask. This is something that I'm willing to work my ass off to get implemented on the Hive.
