The front gates have been breached. For now thay can't get in. Two of the four produced 'Boltzbag' Zeppelins are defending the entrance as well as almost all the remaining cavalry and siege/defensive equipment. We willdrive them back, provided their Lord doesn't come through.

And just look at those 6 footmen watching the battle from a safe spot while Knights are risking their life for the good of the people,in trolmania the doors would either be open or closed but all the troops inside the fortress.

Perhaps the paths inside are quite empty.... Well, all units rush to engage ingame.

And those footmen are there to protect the second gates and the weaker ranged units :? I think that's necessary.
If all the troops were inside, we would gain nothing from our wall units and siege machines that stop most of the demons.

I see your stratgey but I would suggest letting them come into the city and making them spread out. That way you can kill the pockets of them. Thats how I delt with the Lich King and his forces.
