I have a few small requests for models, particularly Thunderphoenixes. I love them conceptually but, just having a plain phoenix model feels bad. A small electrical aspect to them could help lots, and if there could be a variant that is tinged green with fel magics to indicate demonic corruption, that would be amazing. It's for a Classic mod, with no new animations required, if possible to do with only original WCIII Textures/particles as well, I would be most happy. I just hope Im not being rude or anything with how I request this.

I also have icons for them, I can upload them if a model is uploaded, and will not even ask for credit, just as long as someone enjoys it. The models though, credit whoever makes them if they ever get made, please.

Here's a fel version, couldn't do it with ingame textures unfortunately because the phoenix uses its own, but they are quite small in size. Just need to remove war3imported for the filepath

Also the model needs the egg texture if you're using the same system with morphing/demorphing when it dies, otherwise you can leave it out I guess

I use an MPQ rather than import manager, may I ask what file paths are needed Exactly?

Thank you by the way!!

Edit: Uhoh, even trying import to test things, it didn't work. Either that or Im dumb. I believe you said to remove War3Imported\ from the filepath, making it just be the file itself, correct?

Just had a thought, in theory could the fel phoenix look good if applying the Dalaran Reject and Infernal glowing textures? Just a random thought, but Im neither the expert nor demanding this, just a thought.

Yup pretty much, e.g. just FelPhoenix.blp for the texture, I don't know which version of the editor you use but it used to be that a restart is necessary to display imported stuff, the models you should be able to name them anything you want

I just tried with the dalaran rejec texture and it's... bleh, like a flying mossy thing

Hmmm, but Im confused on how I would do that with an mpq, but I can try it. As for the texture, I have another idea... Could Hyppogriff's textures work better? It's a bit blue but, with fel fire particles instead and the shape of a phoenix, it might work? Especially the tail feathers... Maybe even obsidian destroyer with green fel particles- But either way...

I'll try some more things, but thank you for your effort! Imma be real and say that the flying mossy thing even if it doesnt fit here, looks like it'd be possible to retrofit into a moss monster for druids.

Unfortunately, it seems to not load even now. Even after restarting the map... both with import editor and the MPQ. Maybe if you set its file path to something like Units/Demon/Phoenix/FelPhoenix.mdx it might work? But Im glad you've done what you can sofar.

Well, this is a mod that relies on multiple maps. If I used import manager the maps would be super gigantic. By having it neatly condensed into an MPQ, I have the benefit of not ever needing to touch import manager, map files stay small, and being able to upload many files at once instead of one by one in tortmentuous succession.

But for an MPQ I need to know file paths much more strictly than even this site, and with custom textures being a nightmare, I am admittedly a bit hesitant to use anything with that.

Most models go into Units\Race\NamedFolder\
For example: Units\Human\Phoenix\

But the few times I got it to work, I had to put model and texture into matching paths in the mpq. This makes me think the Import Manager creates an MPQ kind of, but does it all for you at cost of map file-size bloat. I believe that if you specify something of the path to be like Human\Phoenix\FelPhoenix.blp it might work for my end, but Im not 100% sure on that.

Either way, I'll keep trying things.

Welp IDK what's wrong, seems to display fine here

No idea about mpq changes though, that seem a bit extreme for a straightforward import like that

Edit: I think it actually needs both FelPhoenix and FelPhoenixEgg textures imported in order to display
Okay! Okay! I figured it out, I found that if I just generically place the textures and model into the very surface of the whole mpq it works.

But, that being said, I'd rather have a full file path so that it... looks a bit better. If you don't want to do that, I understand. This is just a preference thing, but if it had the path of like the texture being demon\felphoenix\felphoenix That would probably make this a lot less weird for my end of this. Its also a bit bright and seems a bit TOO just-green, which I feel could be complimented by some end-feathers being black and/or bleeding to orange, like an inversion of the existing model.

Either way, thank you for the model, I finally got it to load! Import Manager for some reason didnt work, but the mpq method did and thats whats important to me, you've done more than you were asked to and Im very thankful for your efforts! You have done what Ive needed done for years, and I can't thank you enough.

Now I'd recommend you upload to the models page, I'll close this thread if anyone provides a good electrical/fire combo phoenix model too.
