This is going to sound like a strange question. But is it possible to overlap a portion of the minimap? Like if I altered UITile01.blp or would it just get cut off by the minimap??
So if I wanted to make it appear as if the minimap was round not square, you would suggest I take a picture of the already existing minimap and put a type of circle filter over it?

Yes, as that would not even take up any extra file space. It also gives users full use of the mini-map as they can have icons appear anywhere in the circle.
Nonono I was just showing that u can overlap it. As he said to show the minimapjust add n alpha layer to where you want it to show and opaque to where u want hidden
Sorry to dig this post back up, but I just got home from school and tried it and no matter what I do, the UI just disappears when I load the new one. This is what I am seeing in-game. (The teal box is where the map is, I've just Photoshoped to keep the map concealed for now.
It's just ripped from MPQ Browser; and the name is also pulled from there too. It's .blp as it should be. But it still seems that as long as I Photoshop outside the box of where the map would be, I'm fine, it's when I start to go into the map area, then it just stops the file from working.
Btw I think it would be all green, not non-existent if the file type was wrong.
The alpha channels are most likely screwed up. Make sure you saved it properly and correctly did the alpha-process. (check out the tutorials on alpha skinning here at the hive or world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net)
Also make sure you used a stable BLP converter. (such as BLP Lab--which I recommend you to use)
