I'm making the map "Operation Z" as a sequel to my old map Zombie Outbreak. The story is radiation from meteors that struck earth has created a epidemic wiping 70% of the earth population into zombies and mutants. Those that survived have taken refuge in old bunkers and military bases around the world. You play your part as a commander of the remaining US forces who must stage a counter offensive and help a scientist to discover a way end the epidemic.

So far I have everything done on paper with some changes here and there as I put it into game. The concept is NOTD on a larger scale as you build a base and build your units. Each player can choose what area they specialize in which gives access to certain units. The tech tree and unit structure is complete for now. Every unit uses ammo and must reload. Some of the cool features that are completed is the ammo system which works for any unit and also the pilot bail system. Helicopters have a pilot parachute to the ground when they are destroyed. I'll post some screens as I get custom models in it along with the terrain started.

Only thing I need help with is someone who knows jass as I'm learning but managing so far.

I remember zombie outbreak..lol

you should try something like the i am legend.

Have the undead stronger during the night, or have them attack at that time.

Is the planning 90 % Units 40 % triggers 5 % Terrain 0 % project progress?

Yes it is. LOL I thought nobody ever played zombie outbreak. Nah as it is it will be interesting especially since you build your army. I've been working on the bullets and upgrades to armor piercing rounds so you can damage multiple targets close together.

There's 4. Infantry, armor, support, and air. So far all the US forces units are done except for maybe 1 or 2 extra units. Now I'm a bout to make the zombie side. There will be 12 different zombie types with different abilities.

You need a Demon to play the part of a Boss(Rakdos The defiler)
Sometimes its hard to find good demons these days(Rakdos The defiler)
They also need alot of food(sheep)
No but seriously, like'd to see boss zombies, specially mutated people.

Yeah there will be a few bosses in particular. The final boss will really interesting. Right now I'm trying to think of a way to do the spawning system. Unlike notd there's always zombies attacking just the groups may not be as big so it will force you to have base defenses.

If you've never looked at the skins here, you should, the zombie skins people make are amazing. They're perfect for giant bossess.

I've finished planning all the units and will finally start designing and making the terrain. I'm not sure what tile set I'll use but there will be night and day cycle.

Updated first post. I need your opinion, should a zombie infect a man on 1 hit
or when their health is low? Consider that these are ranged units and only 1 or 2 types can infect, also once infected die another zombie is created.

Custom tileset! lol as in own created tiles. Oh and please do not use blizzard cliffs, tired of seeing zombie maps with them, makes them look like shit. Better to use buildings, and custom models, for walls.

Blizzard cliffs? Elbaorate I'm not understanding. I was actually thinking of using desert as the terrain.

LoL I understand and I don't use cliffs for walls lol. The only buildings are models.

I'm thinking of if unit is 1/3 of health left they will be infected. This only applys for marines and would make you be careful how you use them as the infection has no cure. So far the landscape will be resident evil extinction like, I liked the whole city in the sand thing but at the same time it will be pretty much plain being a desert, maybe half desert half forest? Also for saving stats so far I plan on being able to save experience. Things to give xp is completing missions, kills, side quests, teamwork bonuses. Some units will require a certain exp level to build.

So far I will implement a save load system to save your experience as certain units will require enough xp to build. Also I will have a simple ranking system of 5 ranks but the exp required is alot though. Basically you are already a general commanding a army so you have 1 - 5 star general ranking. I've developed a list of things to give exp.

Kill 1
Build buildings 2
Repair 5
Units under influence of auras killing units 3

Problem 1# with that height, if you try to use tracer rounds, and your unit is at top or on side of the mountain shooting, then the projectile will go through the ground. Issue #2; there's no significant structures. No vital spots which is a real turn off for most gamers. I made the same mistake many times.

You can't climb all the way up the mountain only certain parts of the mountain. This is just the mountain area thats all there's going to be more to the map.

So about this map, how exaclty do you help the scientist find a cure?
Do all players play against the zombies?
Or could some play as zombies?
(Cool idea alert) Or if their commander dies, become a zombie?

Basically you are the general so you build and order the army around. You get commands from hq on what to do and such. Zombies are the computer, the enemy. The scientist find it on there own you basically have some missions where you protect them and such until they do. Here's another screen of mountains.

Yeah, but in reality no matter how mutated a zombie is to have skin as thick as stone. The savo or spread round from a 120mm M1A1 main battle tank can pierce through 10 feet of concrete. The .50 cal from sniper rounds and LMG or HMG's like brownings or Barretts can tear through cars and right through arms. The 2000lb napalm bomb can incinerate an entire forest and roast flesh to nothing. The MOAB can take out two city blocks and can literally shatter any flesh targets. M1A1 are 67.7 tons which can just tear through zombies. What makes you think flesh and bone can go up against metal and machinery? There are enough guns to give about everyone in the world a weapon. There are enough conventional bombs to wipe out the entire population of man without the use of weapons of mass destruction. There are more bullets than people who believe OJ is guilty. Those zombies must have fucking Chuck Norris masks or be Jesus Christ reincarnate.

What's to consider? This is wc3 not real life. Some things in the map will be realistic as possible while others will not. I've worked the armor and attack types to be somewhat realistic. Basically bullets do pierce zombies depending on bullet type and damage targets behind them. Basically regular zombies don't stand a chance against the units unless massed together or it's a special type which are the mutations and bosses.

Um.......ok......lol? After terrain is finished I'll have a demo map where you can build all the units and use them and fight the different types and I'll work from there on getting the balance right. Then you can experience for yourself.

Does anybody know where I can find a good snowy tree model with a death animation? I found one but it has no death animation. If i use it then you can't kill trees.

I dunno, I've seen many zombie maps with either snow or a dark atmosphere, why don't you be a trend setter and go for a island/Lorderon Summer theme?

XD, Kinda like a exploding chicken or a screamer. (Thing that pops on your screen with a scary picture and makes a loud noise)
