OPENING and CLOSING gates as units!

I have been trying to make a gate system like the one in castle builder, and village builder version 1.6d.
In those games you can build the gate and open and close it. I copied the units and abilities from village builder and i made it so u can walk through the gate and then close is so u cant walk through. I have been trying to figure out how to make the gates open and close. Is it an animation that im not using because in village builder there was no animations or any triggers that play the animation.
Could someone please help me i have no idea what to do i have been fussing with it for 4 hours trying animations like open, alternate, and switch.
 
i think they used an ability based on metamorphosis. copy ur gate unit and at 'art - required animation names' fill in 'alternateex' and at bone names and link names fill in 'alternate' it doesnt need 'attachment names - attachments' cuz it doesnt have any. dont know for sure if it works though
 
well i copied there open and close ability and copied the gates also. I have it where when i open it looks closed but you can walk through it/and when its closed you cant go through it.

looks lik elocked and unlocked instead of open and close
 
Cenurick_Druidhorn, u didnt rly read his question did u? :P

i know a way, when the unit enters the game with the closed pathing, just do 'animatin - play the gate's closed animation

and with the open pathing, let it play the opened gate animation
