Its my new thing. Whenever I rate a modle, and it has no portrait, it looses 1 point. so if it should be 4/5 it gets a 3/5 instead becuse it has no portrait, period.

Note that the exception is when the modle is not designed to be a unit modle.

Discuss.

I dont think this method of ratting its good , u should rate a model like how it looks not if it has portrait or not ...for example: If its a badass model , probably the best model of this site and it has no portrait u will rate it 4/5?

I have thought about this before, and I have come to the conclusion that I would rate it 4/5. You see, when I look for a modle, I'm looking for something that I can use. You could get away with leaving the portrait out, but than it dosnt look good.

So I would rate such a modle 4/5.

That's a horribly unfair way of rating. What if the model is designed to over-write an existing model, and thus use a portrait in-game to reduce memory cost? In this situation, the model does not include a portrait, but it still is a "good" model with a compatible portrait.

Okay, look at any building model. Do they have portrait files? No. Look at them in game...do they have portraits? Yes.

How is that? Hmmm.

Cameras, bucko. Thats why you cant extract...because they dont exist and/or you dont need them. Just CnP the camara portion of a building model and paste it at the end of the the .mdl of the portraitless model in question, make the minor adjustements to the camera site in the right place, and viola, you are done. Simple, no?

The only think you lose from this is talk anims.

a) There was no Camera Field. I had to type it out myself.

b) When I tried to convert it back from "Mdl." to Mdx.", I got an error message and it didnt work. I tried renaming the file, but that didn't help. Ideas?

If I have to go through this just to get a portrait, I'm still docking a point. I think everyone should in a case like this.

I'm sorry, but that's plain lazy. They've done their part of the deal; making a model, you should do the rest, if not, just request it from the maker... they may change their mind.

If you applied this kind of concept to chain spells, wouldn't you have to change the spell from one to another? Would you dock a point for that?

You reckon you're angry about having to add a single camera?

Feel for us modelors. Not only do we have to ADD it, we need to position it.

And renaming the file is STUPID and IDIOTIC. If you rename a .mdx saying its a .mdl, that is stupid as hell

If there's an error, then you did something wrong

Its because of people like you I'm happy that the mere second we manage to drag Darky off WoW for more than 2 seconds we're PERMINANTLY removing the rating system

Ah I get it. Its your way of rateing or no rateing at all right? Nothing I can really do about it...

Anyway, thx for the help. I can now give my units portraits. :D However, since the maker is to lazy to do it himself I'm still docking 1 point (so long as the mods keep the rateing system up).

Very well that is your opinion. My opinion is that every model should have a portrait. I'm a mapmaker and I want things to look good. People look at the portrait more than the actual model anyway; or is that just me? Anyway its just a matter of opinion and people shouldn't loose a night's sleep over it because someone else thinks differently.

No, They did not finish their part of the deal; models are suppose to have portraits. They are the lazy ones; it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to add a camera (heck I can do it).

I would not apply this to spells because it is the downloader's job to adjust it for his map due to the fact that all maps are different. Models on the other hand don't affect game play.

If you can do it, then why are they the lazy ones? It takes them probably several hours, maybe a couple days to make a model. It takes 5 or 10 minutes to add a camera to a unit. I think you're the lazy one if you can't do that.

Interesting thought, who adds the camera? The maker or the modeler? I say the modeler, your model you add the camera. Besides, do these molders use there models in their own maps? Seriously, if its so easy, which it is and I can do it, why don't they take the extra 5 to 10 minutes to add it?
