I'm currently working on an AoS style map based of Legend of Dragoon. Now, i need help with a good morphing skill that would be used for entering the dragoon form. When activated, it has to disable the current abilities my hero has and enable new ones and when the spell ends, vice versa. I wanted to make it based off of metamorphesis, but i'm not sure but i believe there still is that bug with leveling it. Can anyone suggest a way for me to make a multi-leveled morphing ability

Base it off meta, but do NOT give the morphed unit target(the thing it turns into) any of the abilities the base unit starts with EXCEPT meta(which it has to have).

Then, create a custom research skill, with 1 level for each level of the skill you have.

I'll give an example using Dart.

Base skill:Red Eye Dragoon Form

Levels:4

The 4 abilities the final unit has while metad should all be unit abilities(in this example flameshot, explosion, final burst, and Red Eyed Dragon).

Create a 4 level research ability. Each level should be keyed to a different ability(IE you need lv 1 for flameshot, 2 for explosion and flameshot, 3 for explosion flameshot and final burst, 4 for all 4).

Every time the hero takes a lv in the meta skill, increase the research level by 1.

The final unit should know Flameshot, Final Burst, Explosion, Red Eyed Dragon, and Red Eye Dragoon Form. The first 4 all unit abilities, the last one the meta ability.

Voila, fixed.

Hi!
New here but bin' making Wc3 maps for 6 months. To the point. Have you tried Storm, Earth and Fire with only one spawned unit instead of three? It has a timer but just set dur=0 if you don't want it, although that might create more problems. You'ed have to make another unit type (the dragoon), and then every time a dragoon was spawned you could make it learn up to the levels of the spawning unit through triggers. One problem, I have not tried making multiple levels of Storm, Earth and Fire.

I suppose that would work but i want a way to deactivate the spell. I want this to be like Darky's, yes because his allows for usage of two completely different heroes, allows for morphing back, and hides the one completely from use while the other is in play.

I know how to do everything except hide the heroes' icon. Would it be removed from my screen if i changed the hero i wasn't using to being neutral?

Obviously you can change the hero to Neutral Passive and make it hidden. Moreover, I suggest you keep it invulnerable since AoE spells. I never tried but there might be possible for AoE to attack hidden units. Not sure though, I might be completely wrong. So just use a dummy spell which does nothing and when you activate it the unit appears in some effects, nothing difficult now. With JASS this is easy as a pie... ;)

The method I sugested earlier would work completely but the icon for the Dragoon would stay the same as the original hero but than when you changed it back using Storm, Earth and Fire it would be the Dragoon's pic. Maybe you could use this to your advantage. I could show you what I mean if you wanted.

Or if you still want to do it using triggers you could move the Hero you want hidden to a region outside the playable area, I've seen this done. Then move it back when you want it.

Well the thing is the hero doesn't turn into a dragon first of all. He just gains some armor, wings, and new skills. The portrait won't have to change, just the rest of the body (slightly and probably just a skin edit)and an attachment to give him/her wings.

Well, Daelin, since you're the only onw whos seems to know JASS, then i dunno if it would work too well for us since ive never actually gotten anything out of the JASS scripts and no one else on the team really uses it.

But i know an easy trigger that simply swaps between the two and sets the life of the one coming in to the one coming out. The only thing is i;d need 7 extra characters for the dragoon forms for the 7 dragoon heroes. That shouldn't be too difficult though. If one dies, i simply set the revive timer and when that hero revives, if it was the draggon form, it will change if the timer is up, or else it will continue as the dragoon hero.

Robo-Goblin should work for that, as long as you keep all the original spells and don't take any away, but it would require advanced model editing.

OR

You could make/steal the add-ons as seperate models than attach them as special effects. Same model, Same portrait.

Just suggesting.
