Hey,
as you may know I'm failing at making Icons.
Well, I watched a lot of tutorials but I think they'r not really helping. So I'm looking for a Teacher (Master, Tutor, whatever), because if I'm looking at another's work I think that mine is... you know.

It's just much insight, not little confidence. :Þ

A year or two of practice is far from adequate unless you're aiming to do "special effect icons" using filters and tools rather than paintings. If that is your aim, I suggest you don't. As far as I am aware, we do not approve such "artworks" nor is it a particularly useful skill to acquire.

13 year old people doing decent icons (I'm talking about freehand here) surely have more than a year of practice.

They first come with some horrible skins, after a month their skins getting decent, in three months they are somehow approvable, in six months they become in par quality of those few skinners who have more than 10 skins approved.

There are some extremely good youtube tutorials on this, but just make sure to use multiple layers as I've been saying like one layer for color, another layer for detail, shading, lighting, and thats how it can come together to have a decent look to it.

This. I can't understand why people do not use multiple/overlay/color layers... It is so simple.

lol, about all my icons were made when i had 14 years old.

and I started drawing the same month of when i got my 14.

conclusion: totaly possible to make decent icons in 1 year of practice. Just need to practice a lot :D. You don't need a ''teacher'', but you will need to practice a lot.
