Hello guys!

I am in need of a place, here on hive, to store text. Basically something like pastebin. But pastebin deletes entries after a certain amount of time.

My map's description is getting enormous because of my changelog.

So basically I want to have a large chunk of the changelog stored somewhere, while having a link for the stored place in the map description.

Saves up space.

So, is there such a place where I can store text?

Thanks in advance!

Microsoft's SkyDrive
Dropbox

though you'd only be storing the file as a .txt

talking about pastebin, is it the Hive's pastebin or the real pastebin?

anyway, you could always just keep them inside hidden tags on your map description... that way it is kept hidden but when the user wants to view, he doesn't need to load another site...

It is currently in hidden tags, but when I want to update the map and edit the description, I get overwhelmed with a lot of text. I want to keep a large part of it away, like in Hiveworkshop's pastebin. Sadly we all know that things stored in the pastebin disappear after some time.. :(

screenshot the text edit in a huge picture, upload it to hive albums then just insert image, each time you need to make a change just edit with paint or something

That's not what I am aiming for..

He wants it to be at the internet not a local file so that he could link it to the users... I cannot think that a modder exists that doesn't know how to make a text file...

That. :)

EDIT: I guess it's not possible then :( Oh well..

why won't this work?

then you can use SkyDrive or Dropbox or the pastebin site (I think its a site)

they are all free to use... you just need to register first, and of course make sure that the files are visible to public...

your best bet is http://pastebin.com/ since it can show a preview of the text...

I tell you what? why don't you make social group just for yourself and make threads there?

you can also attach .txt file to your second post but it won't work with BB

what else can you do? hmmm

Edit: you can also user recycle bin as well as -not sure- picture description and you have many many other options I guess

you can also use your own Vm

Edit: you guys left so much for me to say :D

also, the pastebin isn't so bad if the entry is visited once a month at least (by any guy I assume)

Am I allowed to make a thread simply with a changelog there?
Basically yes, but you gotta present your map nicely as well so it is like other threads in that forum.
What would be nice is having a more user-friendly way to edit the description in all of the resources, like the way you can write posts.
That was the plan, but vBulletin (this forum system) is very bad at permitting you to use its text editor for other things on the site.

I think he means can he create a thread to store information, not to actually use it as a thread.

Did you consider my suggestion? It pretty much solves it for you.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't want it to be in a video.

That must be a hell of a changelog. How about making multiple posts? I mean when you make updates to your map, you post the changes and link to them from the main thread?

It is indeed. I update it often.

What you suggest would work if I had issues with new versions. Then, yeah: new version -> new post. The thing is that I want the whole changelog up until now stored somewhere.

You guys tried your best helping me out and I thank you all, but I guess I'll stick with the way it is - in the map description.
