I won't apologize for the thread name - they deserve a lot worse, but my decency is not allowing that.

Apparently, some smart guys have got a ban (Global ignore) for being idiots and ruining morale and level of quality of the Hive. Few minutes ago, I have received a message from my friend, and upon checking his profile page, I saw that a newly created user spammed a LOT of pornographic pictures which were in huge sizes (along with a message: Here's what you deserve), causing the page to stretch with sidescrollers, so that you actually can't realize what it is until a **** comes right in front of your face. My mother and my boyfriend left my room few moments ago before I went to that friend's profile.

I can't stand the fact - the consciences that someone saw that post, in my case, would be huge - probably a lifetime forbidden visit to the Hive.

I strongly believe, among with others, that these users are actually the very same guys that drank a bottle of ban recently. As you may suspect, we placed our cards on "Chucky", which never hesitated to flame both me and my friend.

What can we do about it? Report buttons are not working that fast, and it's a real miracle that the post got deleted several seconds after I reported that.

I deleted the messages. Me and TRD had a few laughs and hey look at that, he's banned again. :S

Don't fret over these tiny flamers. No need to make threads.

Pornography on Hive? WHERE?

---
On a serious note:

What can we do about it?

Hive 2 should have Anti-Pornography engines to stop images from showing up.
Usually, the first thing these engines would have to do is check the source of the image.
I'd give a list of sites that host pornographic content, but I don't want to seem like a pervert :p

For now, all we can do is ask the Admins/Moderators (I don't know the Permission settings)
to pay more attention to these reports. I know they're doing the best that they can, but hey,
got any better ideas? :p

Recently, I've noticed a sudden increase in new users spamming flaming messages around the Hive (like the wise guy in my sig), contrary to our already signature harmless jokes and stuff.

These flamers must be stopped.

It's time to fight fire with fire.
If someone starts flaming, go to his profile, and flame him. :>
As Hammurabi said: "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth."

Or as Kant said:
Act only according to that maxim whereby you can, at the same time, will that it should become a universal law.

But i guess a good flamewar is fine too.

huge sizes
LOL.jpg

Sorry I couldn't resist ;D

But honestly you can't really do anything else, except for what mag suggested and also we should encourage users more to use the report button, yes, they actually do work and moderators actually do check all of them, it's not like we get them in hundreds, although we do get about 15 new reports per day.
And such "situations" don't happen all that often.

Afraid banning multiaccounts can't really be sped up, and pornography can't be dealt with any quicker than humanly possible (remember, it's people who moderate this sort of thing, not the server itself), but I can suggest adding a size limit to the pictures that can be posted on user pages to avoid stretching.

@HFR: So that leads to a grand total of 3 or 4 per year :p What about takakenji? He's still out there, prowling and waiting for the innocent to troll...

But Takakenji doesn't flame... And honestly, is my favorite member... Because he can take a serious conversation, and degrade it to an ass joke, or something to that effect...

He is like a flame-retarded member, he just ousts flame posts, or very serious posts...

UoTY for sure. xD

And what will you do with that severed eye and tooth?

I will go into no detail; you are not allowed to break a single rule in order to face these scoundrels.

Study the rules closely and the path may become clear.

There is no need to violate the rules.
