I'd like to add an ability to my map like Bear Form or Stone Form that any one of the heroes can use.

It looks like it isn't possible since those spells have a field that specifies the unit it turns back into.

Anyone know a way around this? Thanks!

Bad idea since you won't transfer any items, stats, etc... It could be done with triggering, but I recommend you making several Robo-Goblin abilities.

Robo Tinker has a field that says

Data - Alternate unit form - Tinker

Won't this spell bug if you aren't using the tinker hero?

You could just use the "Methamorphosis" ability from the Demon Hunter. Just make sure that the units have the same model (or very similar, like Grom Hellscream and his chaos version).

My map has about 40 heroes and they are all shapes and sizes.

You can't use one morph ability to change 40 different heroes.

Are you some how trying to put this on an item for any hero to use?

You need another unit and/or another ability. Because when you use like metamorphosis then the normal unit specified in the spell's data is different from the casting unit it will definitely be a fatal error.

I think changing the alternate unit even with different models don't bug. What's important is the normal form specified on the spell's data.

I am working on this map hoihoi8s Custom Hero Survival v1.20 - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site.

You can pick a bunch of different heroes and any hero can learn any spell. Sounds like a morph ability won't be possible. Lazy programming on Blizzards part. How hard is it to save the casting units ID before the morph and change back to that same ID. Oh well.

oh yea ur one of the ppl makin a custom hero survival :D. Well i guess the only way you could do this would be to make 40 abilities :O I cant think of any other way because the original form and alternate form would have to be different for each hero, therefore you would have to make an ability for each hero. This would also require a trigger for each hero who purchases the ability to assign their specific ability. Or you can make it only for certain heroes. I dont know of any other way to do this because it requires 2 specific units unless if you can somehow change the regular form data thru triggers which i doubt you can
