May be an interesting watch for everyone.



Do yourselves a favour, people, and don't hold your phones in your pants pockets. This especially concerns men for... obvious reasons. Also, it's best to try and stay away from the phone whenever you don't necessarily need it.

Even if the wi-fi is turned off, the phone is still constantly communicating with the towers. Just as stated in the videos. So the best thing would be to turn off completely whenever it's not in use, or at least hold it well away from yourself.
(Turning your phone off every once in a while is good for it's longevity anyways).

This is also a rock-solid argument against 5G

Turning off the mobile communication system will stop it communicating with the towers and hence stop it producing any transmissions at all. This is separate from Wi-Fi as Wi-Fi only covers local wireless communications and not 5G and the like. However you will not be able to receive calls or data like this for obvious reasons which is impractical when on the go.

Not really as the main issue with 5G is that its high data rate forms have poor reception characteristics. Your skin (which is mostly dead cells anyway) absorbs most of it and very little reaches behind that. This is why simply covering your phone with your hand can break the high speed 5G connection with the towers.

Of course there is low speed 5G. However this is basically traditional mobile communication frequencies but with modern communication protocols so they utilize the bandwidth more efficiently, especially with regard to number of simultaneous users.

Ultimately the question is whether the radiation can cause mutations or damage to cells at the energy levels people are exposed to. For example something like X-ray and gamma radiation is a huge health problem since the high energy radiation will cause damage to your cells at an atom level if they happen to collide with their atoms due to the amount of energy transferred. However some radio frequencies will harmlessly pass through you, possibly transferring no energy into you in the process so cannot cause any damage to you. Equally well if the dead skin cells covering your body absorb all the energy, then there is also no health risk since none of the energy gets absorbed by living cells to damage them.

The video in the OP addresses this, and provides proof that it does. X-ray is a different sort of radiation, and people are exposed to it for a very short amount of time. Meanwhile, people are being exposed to phone/wifi radiation daily. And keeping these devices so close to their bodies, people are only increasing the exposure. That's what the video talks about, too. Prolonged daily exposure that continues for years.

Turning them all off will by definition stop all communication related radiation being emitted from the phone. The phone will still emit some radiation but so does every electrically powered device due to how electricity works. This is not airplane mode.

Can you link actual pier reviewed scientific papers showing that the high data rate communication radiation levels and type of radiation pose risk to internal cells at normal exposure levels? Unfortunately I have doubts about the credibility of those websites. Especially given the huge amount of engineering, testing and validation that was performed to allow the wide spread use of the frequencies as part of 5G.

The microwaves used by high frequency 5G should be absorbed mostly by your dead skin cells. If the radiation level is too high you would feel pain in your skin before any damage occurs to underlying tissues. In addition to this, regulators have defined strict upper limits on the amount of radiation that phones can output to communicate back with towers to also help protect against this being a problem.

In my opinion the highest risk would be naively being very close in front of a tower as that has the highest intensity. However they usually place them in places without public access for this reason. Where the public can walk should be far enough away that the radiation intensity is at safer levels. The masts also use a phased array so should not be outputting radiation at you all the time.

X-ray is a different sort of radiation, and people are exposed to it for a very short amount of time.
You cannot compare x-rays to microwaves. Microwaves are non-ionizing radiation which at most transfer energy to the material in form of heat. X-rays are ionizing radiation which will literally strip electrons from atoms, similar to ultra-violet light and gamma radiation. If you put a chicken in a microwave oven it will become hot and start to cook. If you put a chicken in an X-Ray machine it may increase in temperature slightly, but it is highly likely that it will become slightly radioactive or start to contain some very dangerous or unexpected compounds.

Most, if not all, of the damage and health issues associated with microwave radiation are from increases in temperature caused by parts of the body absorbing this radiation. Especially in the body's core this can be dangerous since human core temperature is kept very close to the maximum operating limit so even a single degree hotter would start to cause major damage. However given how much energy is required to raise temperature like that it is unlikely that a 5G phone or even mast at intended operating range will output enough power for long enough for that to occur. Most of the energy will be absorbed by your skin, and the total amount of energy absorbed is a tiny fraction of the amount of heat energy your body is shunting around all the time anyway.

Cellular radio signals can only be turned off using Airplane Mode (if I am not missing anything). Otherwise, your phone will automatically communicate with the towers all the time, and you won't see it. But calls, SMS, etc. will still be able to reach you. Same thing is with WIFI - your phone scans for nearby WIFI hotspots even with WIFI turned off.

So no, simply turning off the icons at the top isn't enough. And cellular communications cannot be turned on/off at all asides from using Airplane Mode.

Normal exposure level? Even now, with 4G, we are having very high exposure levels every day. Every single phone within our vicinity constantly communicating with the towers, not to mention all the wifi devices, GPS signals, etc.

And one of the promises of 5G is to be bigger than that. Not only is there talk about "smart cities", but the nature of 5G requires this, because of that same "poor reception" that you mentioned before: (quote from one of the previous sources)

Not true, as shown above. The symptoms of radiation poisoning can be very similar to common illnesses (like cold), or food poisoning. We are not talking about Chernobyl levels of radiation here, but radiation that is very harmful still (especially long-term, what with increased risk of cancer).

You cannot compare x-rays to microwaves.

It does not scan when it is off since if it did scan then turning it off would not save power. If your phone does not turn the communications off when it should then I suggest complaining to the phone manufacturer.

Airplane mode is legally required to prevent all transmission to the mobile network. Without being able to transmit anything the device will not be able to receive anything from the mobile network as the mobile network is not aware of the devices existence and so cannot register it to a cell. If your device fails to comply with this then that is a defect with the device.

Actually it explains a possible mechanism for EMF to affect living tissues and how it might be harmful. If it actually is harming people would need other studies to detect. This also mostly applies to existing and legacy wireless communication frequencies, and less so to 5G since high frequency 5G has very poor tissue penetration (unlikely to get much past your dead skin cells).

Many of those are not ruling out behaviour and other environmental influences. For example comparing language development with phone radiation could be argued that the behavioural reason for the family having less radiation might also be promoting language development in their children, or vice versa. The end result is pretty much saying that if your family uses phones a lot then you may be more stupid rather than if you are exposed to EMF you will be more stupid.

And despite all that people are living to record ages. In the UK life expectancy has still increased over the last 20 years, despite ever increasing levels of exposure to EMF during that time period.

Yes dangerous exposure to X-rays, alpha particles, beta particles or gamma rays do cause radiation sickness, as those are ionizing radiation. This is exactly why 5G and mobile communication frequencies have nothing to do with them and will likely never have anything to do with them.

As the article points out...
Possible sources of high-dose radiation include the following:

  • An accident at a nuclear industrial facility
  • An attack on a nuclear industrial facility
  • Detonation of a small radioactive device
  • Detonation of a conventional explosive device that disperses radioactive material (dirty bomb)
  • Detonation of a standard nuclear weapon
Which of these do you think applies to 5G and the frequencies it uses?

Noticed this thread after it got moved to this category. :p Interesting discussion!

I do remember a time when I was around ~10 and cellphones became widespread, there was a warning not to keep them in pockets, due to the radiation. They said it could cause mutations in gamete cells. Haven't heard anything similar ever since. I'm unsure about mutations, but sometimes I wonder whether all this radiation flying about affects us somehow.
