Anyone have a simple solution that would allow a hero to have a bounce attack without the stupid orb conflict that results in no missile and no damage. :goblin_boom:

Blizzard - 1st place for the most useless editor ever. Not that it even qualifies as a true editor.

Any help is appreciated,

The Corrupt.

The things that some people call "Orb effects" are actually Attack modifications.
However, the limit is set at 1 modification and bouncing is also considered a modification.

OT: Tell us what you wanna do and maybe we can find a way.

@ Xonok

I would at least like the hero with the bounce attack to be able to pick up an orb or another attack item, and not have the attack stop working.

I prefer not to use triggers for simple things like spells, but if script is the only way, I suppose I will need a simple script to get me started.

Any ideas?

There are many game editors. Take UnrealED for example. In the world of editors, World Editor doesn't make the grade.

Well, one way is detecting when the unit deals damage to anyone and then triggering the bouncing. I understand it isn't the best way though.

Then you have no idea how to use the World Editor, if you limit yourself to the object editor then yeah it will seem lame to you yet there is so much more.... A grade? :ogre_hurrhurr: I haven't seen a editor up to today that is so free like world editor. Owell guess you cant appreciate it. Still we told you how to get what you want, whats the problem?

Perhaps everyone has misunderstood what I meant.

The editor may not be "useless," but when you able to do something like have a hero with a bounce attack pick up an attack item. Shouldn't that actually work by default? What would you call it, a glitch?

Anyway,

I know the capabilities of Jass. But, due to my partial understanding of how, I need an example of how to stop the attack item (ex: poison orb) from ruining the hero's bounce attack without using some extensive script with dummy items and units. I need something to get me started.

Or can it not be done?

Restriction, limitation, assume between the two. A glitch is an unintended behavior, this is not unintended as Xonok pointed out, only one modification will be applied.

I think it can't be done without sacrificing one attack modifier, drop one attack modifier. I might be wrong though.

It's the all-so-common combination of intended and unintended.
In the original game there are no heroes that have a splash attack by default.
Due to this blizzard didn't really bother with such details as we see now, as it is unrealistic in the melee game.

tl;dr WC3 was not originally intended to be as modifiable as it is now, this is seen in many places around the game if you know how to look.
