When a unit has an expiration timer and uses mirror image, it instantly dies after casting and creates no illusion.

Can someone please explain why and how I can overcome this please?

No idea. But what does it matter to you?

Why do you need this?

You can prevent it by creating a unit, giving it an item with ability "Item Illusions" and ordering it to cast it on the unit with expiration timer.

That is because expiration timer is a buff. When you cast Mirror Image you lose all buffs. When expiration timer is removed, affected unit instantly dies.

So basically this is what happens: Cast Mirror Image -> Remove all buffs from caster -> this removes expiration timer -> caster lost expiration timer -> kill caster.

I would still need to trigger the whole ability if I were to do that. For example if a dummy unit, summoned unit or illusion were to cast mirror image.

Can you provide your test map?

It was a spell for an archer in the request forum. https://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/requests-341/request-spell-archer-272865/
Its not in the map now, but I had a test where I gave a timer to a unit and it cast mirror image.

Thank you, this explains perfectly. I thought that this might be the case that it removed buffs but I didn't know the timer was a buff. Would it be possible to save the remaining time, remove the timer and then add it back on when the unit has finished casting?
