Am i alone to have written i very long post later to be redirected (of own own human error/mischevious brothers or a result of IE and laptops worldwide working together to make me sad (personally leaning for the first)). This has occured three times so i came up for a (possimpibly) simple solution for that problem. Is it possible to make a warning sign (or somthing) pop up whenever your'e trying to close a page of which you have written say, 50 words? You've got one for leaving the chat page, so why not make one appear when your making large posts (not during ofc)? I belive Screenwriters and RP-ers Hive-wide will be forever grateful, or atleast me.

Remove (burn/Annihalate/...) this post if you find the idea silly.

I have spoken my mind...

I doubt that is possible...

BUT there are part solutions. You should use a good (and i MEAN good) browser (means NOT IE) like Opera. When you click on a wrong link an use the "back" button of the browser opera saves the things you wrote so you can still use them.

I just tested it and it does NOT work if you close the page or the browser.
But I am quiet grateful towards the opera programmers as I often write something and then find myself loged out -.-

This was mere brainstroming. Thought of it as more preferable to get a warning signal when your'e trying to exit instead of getting angry, depressed etc. (depending of emotional status and length of post), and then get a new web browser.

Anyways, got some chromed google which works fine. Only problem left is my bluescreens. oO

Of course it is possible. Sites can generate notifications just fine (e.g. You need to spread more reputation around before giving to the same person again.). I find this very useful! I totally support it :)

Yes but pages can't react to a "tab closing event" or even a "browser closing event".

Not even to the "back" arrow of your browser. Pages can only react to events happening "in" them.

Actually, they can. Closing a tab or a browser, or clicking 'Back' is, as far as logic tells, simply disconnecting from the site, which the page can easily pick up and then give you a dialog box. Try it in the chat, it asks you whether or not to quit if you close the chat in your browser.

Indeed, be it here resolved that either a draft system of some kind can be made or thy could save thy work from being utterly destroyed by writing thy words onto notepad or even by the small feature inbedded in all systems, Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V. (An altered speech made by Baranby Stinson)
