Use an MPQ editor, open ..\StarCraft II\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\ and open Base.SC2Data (~93MB). There the top folder in this MPQ states: BattlenetCache. In this folder you will see folders of all maps like: (2)DesertOasis.sc2map Now open the folder (2)DesertOasis.sc2map or whatever map you want and you will see lots of cache like:
If you open the editor and go to File/Open/Blizzard Maps, you can find them there, if all you want to do is open them. If you want the files themselves, do what Imtor said or just save your own version of them to the location you want them to be.
I'm making some minute balance changes to the existing melee data - a "what I think things should be" edit. When I enable the campaign data as well it no longer lets me access the data on the regular bunker for instance. For example what I am tying to do is remove the Neosteel Frame upgrade and replace with Shrike Turret upgrade.
What do you mean? In the data editor where you can select between units, abilities, behavior etc choose Data SOurce: It can be liberty, core.sc2, campaign, and paste some value from campaign to your map.
Dependiencies and their requirements are loaded in decending order. Basically the top dependency first followed by the one below it etc. Because many mods may contain data with the same ID, to prevent key clashes it overwrites (extends) the previous dependencies with its own version of that object.
In one of the view modes, it lists all definitions of data in your map, even duplicate. This does mean that overwritten data by other dependiencies will also show. You can however only modify the lattest definition of that object (the last loaded mod depenciency that was at the bottom of the list) so as to keep inhertance intact.
Unfortunatly, I am pretty sure blizzard knows what things should be better than you, afterall you are just 1 person while they have tons of feedback and a number of designers and testers. I do agree it is good to learn from by doing such a thing (boosts ones ego as well hehe) but ultimatly I do not think it is a good way to make a popular map.
