Maps don't show up, won't load, etc

Newbie here. Sorry if I'm in the wrong place for this, and I'm sure the answer to my question is plainly put somewhere on this site... but after downloading one of these wonderful maps that y'all are putting out, I place the map in the warcraft 3 directory under "scenarios" in frozen throne, and then go into the game, and it doesn't show up. Furthermore, some of the maps that I see just won't play. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

First create another folder in "maps" rename it whatever you want , then download new maps in it , second check your warcraft3 version ,1.26a is the latest ,some older maps require older version of warcraft3.

Some maps need the last warcraft patch 1.26 , try to install it.
