Map Types

I realize you are probably working on this. . .but it would be insanely handy if you would fix the search by map types option. . .sorry to bug you, but this would make it very easy for me to view the things I want to. (as a result i haven't really browsed the map section due to the fact that I don't want to have to click through all 100+ something pages just to view them all.)

Anyways, sorry to be a bother, but if you could get that up and running that would be great, thanks.

well there are SO many uncategorized maps.. So if you search for "other" you will find like every single map

Well the main categories I can think of right now that there would be are:

AOS
All Categories
Arena
Campaign
Capture The Flag
Cinematic
Defense
Footman Wars
Mauls
Melee
Mini-Game
Offense
Other
RPG
Survival
Tower Defense

These are basically how I would divide up the maps if you're having trouble placing them. (btw, if you dont' have any say. . .defense maps [i.e. Helm's deep] then combine it with a different categorie like Tower Defense) Ideally the people who submit them would have several categories to choose and submit it to. Then, if some jokster submits into different categories, have a mederator move it, and warn him.

Note:I've seen htis work on other sites. . .it's probably their nicest feature.[/list]

If you need any more ideas let me know. . .by the way i have a quick question. . .where would I submit a map that's purely to look at the terrain. . .(It's for people to see kinda what can be done with the editor. . .would I just submit it under maps. . .attach to post in off-topic, or what. . .sorry this is kinda newbish)

you can atach it to a post or you can upload it in that triggers/demo/uncatergorized maps section. Yea well I think we should also keep the triggers and demo part of that catergory if we rearange the entire maps database.

well I have now made the database input thing better, I havent added buttons yet though.
But in the url you can write:
start (the page to start at)
user_restrict (users that cant be shown)
search (search string)
search_mode (any or all)
user (only this users maps)
time_limit (amount of weeks allowed for a map)
order_type (asc or desc)
order (dls, id, rate)
cat (category)

so you could make a link like: www.hiveworkshop.com/maps/?user=2&time_limit=4&order=id&order_type=desc&search=wh40k&search_mode=any
this will show all my maps containing "wh40ktd" that have been uploaded within 4 weeks, sorted by id

yea he made it so I can delete maps and edit them, do all that stuff. I might go through the maps section and delete any rule breaking maps but that would take along time.

Rule breaking? Ralle uploaded most of the maps himself so I hardly think they brake any rules

Rasmus does not usually look at maps, he just adds them. Were I on my computer I would also aide in the endevour, alas I must stand idle until due time.

yea Porn is against the rules I belive. So are any maps that has the name "Just Another Warcraft 3 Map" or the description "nondiscript"

ok well maybe we could have a "report bad map" Button. Ok well i'm gonna start clearing out the map section of bad maps now so if anyone finds a map that breaks to rules please pm me.

ok everyone I will begin deleting maps that contain nondescript or Just Another Warcraft 3 Map in one day. If you know one of your maps hasn't a proper name or description fix it now! Maps containing Porn, ect will be deleted as soon as posible.
