Anyone have an idea any ideas or facts on how big the range of the maps will be for the galaxy editor? I'm hoping they let us go farther than wc did. I will lol happily finding out it supports something like a 512x512. :xxd:. So what do you guys (think/know) it supports.

I don't see the point of such huge maps. They make compuetsr slower, makes it a pain for the developer to get shit done, and takes too much for travel.

hiho,

blizzard said that it will definantly be 256² like wc3.
but im sure that there will be some special editors which will allow us to size up the map bounds for about 512². =)

well in wc3 i tried to make a huge RPG (GoH2) with 480².
hours and hours of work for the terrain and after some weeks it was about 60% finished. 0.o

-> i would NOT recommend anyone to make such a big map. xD

Succesful modding team work is rare. If the SC2 editor is like wc3's, you can always expand and reotuch if needed. Much more practical. Otherwise it will be a pain.

how big will the maps be in terms of mb/kb o_O, i mean some ppl i know have difficulty dling warcraft 3 maps quickly

Well a map-size of 512x512 is like a perfect-pixel image of 512x512 and those are about 250kb, I guess only texture-type and z-height shall be saved, so that is a maximum of 500kb for the heightmap..

What I hope, is that they make jumping from map-to-map online, like a wc3 campaign is going to be possible, that way we don't need to create such huge maps, and they won't take 20minutes to load.
