Making A Custom Minimap

This tutorial will show you how to save and import your own minimap into your map. It will appear during the game setup screen (Not in game).

Needed Programs
  • An image editing program that can save files as a .TGA. I'm using Photoshop CS3.
  • The World Editor.
  • Mouse, keyboard, monitor, the stuff other people say you need but obviously have.:grin:

Creating & Saving The File
Make a new 128x128 document and create your image. Save it as a .TGA, if you save it as something else this will not work. Here's what I came up with:

Importing the File
Open up your World Editor. Press F12 to open up the Import Manager and import your .TGA file. Change the path to "war3mapPreview.tga" Save your map, and you're done! Here's what mine looks like:
