Mac/PC WE malfunction??

My friend has a Mac, and I have a PC. When he dls my maps, and rehosts them, i notice that the name that i originally used is all wierd (now it will have numbers), and if i attempt to dl the map (because we are creating a map) to edit it, WE crashes. Is their a correllation between this? because when we both had PCs, this was never a problem.
