Recently I started messing around with an opensource map, and found great potential in it.
However, editing it leaves behind shadows from old doodads, cliffs and more.
This produces some very weird results and looks quite ugly, and I focus alot on details.

How can I fix this? I've searched around abit but all I get is darkness spells :p

Nope. I'll try that :)
As for reinstalling, I'll bet my monthly income that it won't help. Besides, I had enough problems installing two versions of WC3 AND making seperate registry files for NewGen to work with all the add-ons :p

Try to change tileset. save as...
then open it and shange tileset as it was in the 1st place...
I don't know what is the problem but... I would suggest
Reinstall... and Again Make separate registry files... I don't know better way...

Recalculate shadow map as said in post #3.

WC3 stores shadows as a separate overlay map that it places ontop of the normal terane. It does not automatically update it appon map save as it is process intensive to generate so you have to special save the map to generate it. Thus the terane could completly change and it would still have the old shadow map until you recalculate it.

Reinstalling in this situation is pointless. I do not even see how people could have thought it would fix this.

I also seugest you do not mess around with open source maps and publically release them unless you are sure you have improved the map and could make such a map from scratch. Especially if you are new to WE it is not a good place to start as you might end up making the map worse than it was to begin with as you do not have the knowledge and that point in time to improve it. You however are free to mess around with it and learn from it ofcourse which I recomend you do as it is a good way to learn how Wc3 and WE work.

1: The save thing worked just fine.

2: I'm certain that my map will exceed the original by far. I already improved the terrain greatly, even making new innovative ideas to the map in that progress. I plan to completely overhaul objects, improve triggers as well as add many new ones.
I'm much aware of how WE works. I have good understanding of GUI triggering and I feel that it can cover all my needs for editing this map. In fact, the only thing I can't do is JASS (I still utilize NewGen), however any code that I need, I can get with/without some credit around the web, such as GetHost. I can edit basic stuff in JASS, but not make new JASS triggers.

In other words... Resolved.
