I am SO confused as to how these leagues work...

I am in bronze, #8 in my division.

The last SEVEN matches, have been against top 20 Golds (In their division), I won all of them except one.

Why am I still Bronze.

This league system doesn't make sense to me yet!

Anyone have it figured out?

sometime it takes forever to promote, sometimes it takes a few games. When it takes forever, it will promote you by at least 2 leagues(bronze to gold), when it takes a few it will promote you in one league. The higher the league you are in, the more games it takes to get promoted. I know this from experience, could be horribly wrong. I went from silver to plat in 1v1 and it took me a lot of games to get diamond in 3v3 and 4v4 from plat.

The league system doesn't matter. Don't look at the league you're in, just the number of wins and number of games :). If you're doing good, they will place you with the so-called "higher ranks" even though you're a bronze, and if you're doing bad they'll put you against some "lower ranks".

Sometimes the system will promote you, but it's if they see they really made a mistake in placing you in bronze/silver.

Anyways, don't worry about it, playing well doesn't necessarily mean you'll be promoted, it jsut means you'll start playing higher ranks and get more wins :). That is the true way to play.

Just because the promotion system is inconsistent doesn't mean a 55% WLR in bronze is equivalent to a 55% WLR in diamond.

It will promote you when you have a high WLR (among other things). If it is placing you against players above your league it means it is considering you for promotion, considering them for demotion, or both.

i dont think its a bug. as you lose points when you lose so somebody above you must have lost points, enough to go below you and therefore your on top... or are you talking about going up an entire leage e.g. bronze to silver?

They explained it in detail at blizzcon, btw.

So expect threads to be popping up soon...

Basically, you have a number of things that it keeps track of.

Its confidence in you, its confidence in your race, confidence in your opponent, in your opponents race, proximity of your games to each other, etc...

They gave a HUGE list of things that it checks for, so don't expect a nice simple answer.

Link to BlizzCon 'explanation'? Because I play vs plats and diamonds often, I win vs plats, lose vs diamond, lsoe vs platinum, wins vs gold and rarely might lose frm a gold, most of my wins and losses are vs platinum. I seem to be bugging the system, it can't handle so many unexpected results...

Maybe they were on their way to be demoted? Who knows, as long as you improve, that's all that matters. Rankings aren't that important.
