The unit gets removed permantly. The hero will no longer be revivable and its hero icon will be gone. In JASS script, all handles pointing at the unit will return a sort of null when evaluated. Some memory for the unit will still remain allocated and it is not clear if this ever gets freed for reusue later.

i dont think there will be any leak...
If you track WC3's memory usage you will see that it does seem to leak. After creating 30000 units and removing them (even if done one at a time) you will see an increase in WC3's memory allocation. Some people are reporting that the leak is temporary due to a schedualed garbage collector so it is not truely a leak but I can not confirm/disprove this as my tests were over a short period (minutes at most).

30,000 is a lot. i dont think any map will reach up this number. however, thank you again :)

12 players tower defense.

50 waves.

30 creeps per wave.

30 * 50 * 12 = 18.000

Ya, in normal maps you'll never reach this number. Except if number of creeps per lane is 50 :D then you reach it (seriously, no tower defense use 50 creeps per wave, since 2 players playing it will start lags on some computers).
