You can use the Hero - Set Experience action.

The following trigger will allow you to update the experience of that neutral unit. You can lower the interval if you wish to increase the rate at which the experience is updated, but there's no need to do so.
  • Events
    • Time - Every 1.00 seconds of game time.
  • Actions
    • Hero - Set your_neutral_unit experience to (Hero experience of (Your_hero)), show level-up graphics

Try making the player allied to neutral passive via triggers (shared vision, etc). Then modify the game play constants so that EXP sharing does not reduce experience quantity.

Additionally you could trigger your own experience system using the experience altering natives.
