The patrol ability is automatically removed when the unit has Movement Speed Equal to 0.
So, unless you remove the movement from your unit, there is no other way of achieving this.
If you have any passive abilities or auras, try put them in a spell book.
and if you need another slot for spells you can hide the spell book with triggers.
na u can't. Put you can do a workaround. Hide the attack icon of your units(object editor), then replace patrol icon with attack icon(advaned - game interface). Create a new trigger that orders units to attack instead of patrol when they receive a patrol command
Simple add "ward" as unit classification. That will hide ALL controlbuttons, but you can still control the unit. It will be able to attack, autoaquire and move. But you can't use "stop", "hold position", "attack ground" or "patrol" anymore.
