Alright so.. every time i import a custom skin.. it works fine.. but when i put it onto a unit.. it turns it into a mdl instead of an mdx therefore it won't load the skin.. I don't get why it does this.....
It always shows as an MDL in the Object Editor. There's no problem there. Import it following the Import Tutorial. If that doesn't work, try placing the files into your Warcraft III folder and import them from that location.
I follow the tutorial perfectly.. but its hard because they do the damn tutorials using a mac computer.. and some of the fields that they change aren't on world editor..
And yeah.. ill try putting the files directly in the root warcraft folder..
Oh wow.. nevermind.. i simply had to close out of editor and go back into it... forgot about that..
That's also part of the Import Tutorial. There's absolutely no difference between the MAC sample and doing it on Windows except the UI (User Interface, which means it only looks different, but the buttons say and do the same)
You don't have to do anything for the portrait except import it with filename MODELNAME_portrait.mdx where MODELNAME is the filename of the model for that portrait without the .mdx extension.
Hero.mdx and Hero_portrait.mdx
Thing.mdx and Thing_portrait.mdx
Chief-Oblivion.mdx and Chief-Oblivion_portrait.mdx
