images...what are they for? how are they useful?

some script doing something with images...
how do you use them and when are they useful? i get the impression i should've known some things about them already, but i know nothing.

i might start experimenting with them myself...but anyone else already know some things?

They are just an object reference for putting 2d-images into the game. Useful for when you are creating a talent board, or an inventory system, or just want to use on in your terrain.

Not necissarily, blizzard uses alot of 2d-images in warcraft 3 (loading screens, textures, some spell effects). All of which can be created on the terrain in-game using the image functions.

Images are just as Raven0 said. They are a bit annoying though, because they don't act like "real" images where you can have any dimensions. It has fixed dimensions of multiples of 32x32 (as far as I know). However, there is a method to fix that by making the outer border transparent, as they basically stretch that to fit the size.
