Alright, so here are my first few real attempts at making wc3-style icons. I know they're far from perfect, and I would like some good critiques as to what I could do to improve them. I didn't bother adding the wc3 borders because I'm trying to focus on the image itself, so please don't suggest adding the borders.

Thanks. Could you pinpoint any specific improvements to make them more wc3-esque?

The Icons really look great! I have tried to make some icons myself but never got them to look nearly as good as these :D.

Nice look. The scroll could use a little background glow or something like that. Perhaps you sholdn't be so eagered to capy blizzards warcraft look, honestly what you have here is more intresting. In fact, look CrazyRussians icons. They are most definatly not blizzard-ish, yet they are gorgious.

Hope you'll make more icons!

They definitely need backgrounds, particularly the meteor shower one. Just a little extra
glowyhax for atmosphere. In addition, the meteor one could use more red, radiating out
from the flames.

And while you said "Don't suggest adding borders," you need to consider the
borders. See how you've got lots of detail close to the edge? When you add the borders,
all of that is going to get cropped off. Leave a little gap there, just a technical thing :)
