And it was awesome. I've NEVER played Tides of Darkness before, but it was ridiculously fun! It's got this sort of "retro" feel to it that's just so enjoyable... It also has some simplified controls (right-clicking orders units around instead of having to hit "M" or "A" every time) that take no time at all to get used to!

I have the Battle.Net version of Warcraft II. I haven't played it for a while, but I like how it was made back in the day.

I guess we aren't playing the same game. My version of WC3 doesn't require you to hit "M" or "A" every time.
I personally don't like Warcraft III. The RTS side is nowhere near as fun as Warcraft II is... for me, anyways. I think some people will agree with me on that, though.

I don't find Warcraft II to be very fun. I play it once in a while when I'm bored, but I can't call it my favorite game.
The equal unit stats make the game overall balanced, the only differences are the spells, and you already know what happens when you play with an AI: the nearly instant control beats you, and that's exactly what happens. Death Coils raining down on my units and killing them, my units getting permanently turned to sheep by a smart Mage that decides to come to my base specifically to cast that spell, running back to his base afterwards... the fights are, overall, a mess. Still, the campaigns are somewhat fun to go through, even though you can't use heroes late game, unless you're playing Human and have Paladins to heal them.

Warcraft II has something that is just awesome about it. I dont know and i dont care to know, but i really liked it.
personally i started with warcraft III (and i should be punished for that) and i like it better than WCII, but i dont think it has something to do with advance or technology, but a matter of the history and the orcs not being brainless bastards.

It is a shame that Warcraft 3 lost naval battles. In warcaft 2 you also were able to have much more units (but that was also a problem since they were hard to control). I must agree that Warcraft 2 was great game and that Warcraft 3 lost some good elements.

Yes, I'm playing it for the first time in a couple years I think. I got bored of WC3 and decided to play WC2 again. Fun game and completely different gameplay than WC3 which is why its a game you can go back to. I'm currently redoing the campaigns. It's definitely old school, but still fun. This was Blizzard's first classic. They did a good job. The old school graphics don't bother me that much either. I kind of like them.
