how to make an icon by using a model

Hmm.. Just take screenshot from your hero and resize it to 64x64px? Then you can use photoshop or something to add black background

This is how I usually do it.

Requirements:
Warcraft 3 Model Editor
Button Manager

I open the model in the program I linked to above here.
I go to EDIT -> Properties and make the background color totally black.

After that I open Windows (not xp or vista lol. its in the model program) -> Animation Controller.
With the animation controlled I pick a nice animation and whenever I see a good position I press Print Screen.
After that I go to paint open up my picture, scale it down to a square (size doesn't even matter, just try to make it a littlebit like a square)
After that I open Button Manager and drag the picture I made in the Button Manager window. Then you're basically done.

Easypeasy I'd say:D
