how can i get star wars empire at war forces of corruption to connect on lan

i have asked on the petroglyph forums but they dont exactly get a lot of traffic. the regular game works perfectly on lan but the expansion doesnt work at all. i tried a clean install but that didnt help then i installed the patch but that didnt help either. the player cant see each others in the lobby or anything. i dont have the slightest idea what is wrong. please help.

the game doesnt appear in the lobby when i try to host. windows firewall is broken so i cant configure it or turn it on or off. the problem is only in the empire at war expansion.(forces of corruption.)

it doesnt give me any errors. the pcs just doesnt appear in the same lan lobby. they are in the same lan workgroup however. other games(even the regular empire at war) work on lan.

See, take wc3 as example. When my firewall is turned on, for example unreal tournament 3 is working totally fine, but wc3 isn't. It is different from game to game...

Do you really have no other hints then your firewall? It could be 100reasons.

Just a though: why don't you install an older OS, maybe Win98 or something, since all these games are really old, and you'll always run into compability and/or other issues when trying to run them in more modern environments, like Vista.

Have you ever considered from your tons of games contacting the support? Lots of problems could be game-specific and their support could tell you the best, if you own their products that is. Ok you're beyond help. Something just compelled me to post, that's enough.

there isnt any support for that game in my country. there is only support in usa and mexico.

Then send a mail to them. The fact that there is no support for your country probably means that they cannot offer help in your language, not that they will not help people outside the US.

i contacted them long ago and they told me that they couldnt offer support outside usa and mexico. they told me to seek help from activision but they dont offer support at all.

Needs to be Crossover Ethernet cable, else it won't work


ANYWAYS, Hamachi emulates LAN through their servers, basically meaning you can play LAN games with people on other networks, or the same network. Try it

illegal software is risky.(tend to be infected as well.) both pcs are almost always connected through a router. a lan emulator wouldnt help either unless the lan problem is solved.

either way it wont solve a lan based problem. since activision owns the copyrights of that game in europa and blizzard is a part of the company, using a third party program is risky. i dont want trouble, just help with fixing a problem.

Try what other people post before rejecting their solution beforehand, especially when you have NO knowledge of what they're talking about.

i might try to use the same username on both pcs and possibly other solutions on that website. as for the third link on your list: that is for people that cant start the game rather than lan based and i dont have problems running the game. i dont troll. many of the solutions posted in this topic is solutions i have already tried.

Hey uh Kercyn, if you go to the last page on that forum post they talk about how the patch from Lucas Arts fixes that without editing the XML :/
