How can I check my pc for errors?

I have this problem with my computer. It completely freezes mostly when I go on youtube. When it freezes I just hear repeating audio that just sounds like "dadadadadada" or something. Like a machine gun lol. Anyways I think it's a hardware problem like my soundcard or video card messing up. Is there a way I can scan what's wrong with my hardware and make it fix itself?

Thank you.

Ha ha, How's that go again :) Hey your problem is more likely a software issue than hardware. Could be an issue with your drivers. You could try reinstalling them. (sound card) Or it could be a registry error. You could try any one of many programs to fix a registry error. One excellent program is made by Symatec. There may be some freebies out there too. You could try doing a seach for registry fix. Thats my guess anyway :)

You know after thinking about it its most likely your sound card drivers or the card itself possibly. Try using lower sound quality see if that fixes the problem.

Well I have many programs on my computer. I think there's a problem with my sound card. It happened when my computer was idle on my desktop(when I was letting everything load when it turned on). I use ccleaner but it only finds anf fixes around 6 things. I'll try reinstalling my drivers then checking out that company you mentioned. Thanks so much for the help!

Edit: So do I need to get norton anti virus or something?

No its not anti-virus they also make something called norton utilities. Although its rather expensive its good. You can find a cheaper product like PC Doctor. But it may only fix the problem if it's a registry error. Your problem sounds more like a sound card issue. I've often fixed similar problems like you describe by reinstalling drivers or other software. You could also try reinstalling direct X.

You know it's really hard to guess what your problem is if your computers locking up when on the desktop. As many different things can cause this problem. Including a malfunctioning video card, bad sectors on your hard drive, a corrupted file, a virus and almost any defective hardware could cause a lock up. I would first try running scandisk if you haven't already. If scandisk finds no errors try booting windows into safe mode and see if the problem still happens while in safe mode. If it does then its likely a hardware failure. If it doesn't happen in safe mode then it's probably software related. Try reinstalling your video and sound card.

If indead your problem is hardware related it can be difficult sometimes to pinpoint what exactly went bad. Hope this helped :)
