hello hive today i would like to discuss few points and ideas about how its possible to make this game even better than before , you are free to add your list of what should be done so maybe one day blizzard will take a look at it
first i want to ask what really is important for this game? the most important aspect? melee? story? custom maps? well all 3 are in the editor right? right! so thats where focus should be the editor alone kept this game alive for a long time user generated content is a sizable chunk of the wc3 experience what should be done is improve the editor make it better and easier to use streamline some processes and other improvements.
here is what i think should be added to the editor:
1-new doodads: what sets wc3 from other WC games is its doodads allowed for more detailed maps blizzard used it to a great extent and each map maker always tries to make the map as detailed as possible this allowed for visually pleasing maps , but the doodad library has been the same since 2003 and there is few lacking things from it that could help the cinematic aspect of missions and scenarios and this would be destroyed buildings and dead soldiers , faction structures have no ruined equivalent save for the scout tower all other ruined buildings are civilian ones that arent fitting for lets say a ruined base that the heroes come across......you try to remedy this by making buildings at low HP and add fire for extra believablity but it will never substitute the need for ruined faction buildings , age of mythology is a RTS game that came out in 2002 same year as WC3 and it had dead soldiers and ruined buildings for each faction you could have a destroyed greek armory or a ruined egyptian barracks and more , you can have dead axemen or slingers or hypaspists which all helped the game cinematics this is what must be added for wc3 footmen dead in multiple unique poses same goes for other basic units even workers and maybe few others like necromancers and tauren , ruined guard towers , burrows , human and orc barracks , destroyed night elf hunters hall , a ruined crypt and more would all the cinematics that happen to include ruined bases and such its not rare to have this sort of cinematics.
2-a menu for saving custom doodads/models and more: instead of having to import each model and go through the process of writing that model location in the object editor and more stuff blizzard could add a menu that saves your imported models in the editor data itself so instead of having to import you bring up the menu and click on the model and boom its imported or select multiple models at a time , this also can apply for triggers where the menu can save this trigger you made then one click and its imported to the map there can be something like make it default to add all imported stuff to this map it would hasten the process and make it more smooth for new comers.
3-new content: look to hope for full campaigns from today blizzard is like asking the caliph in stronghold crusader to give you resources the reply you would get it "YOU ask for the impossible!" instead we could get scenarios , a single map with its own story and such the devs can also use this to test new mechanics (i know im dreaming too far but just let me cook) these scenarios can range from challenge like gain a certain score on a mission similar to aoe2 and what it did with the first mission of the teutons campaign , you can explore the world of azeorth not from perspective of the main cast but just other people survivors in lordaeorn for example , fel orcs in outland and more....
one thing i would like to mention is the ability to edit unit selection just adding this option to be editable in the editor would be huge.
while some of this can be difficult to program and make im certain it can breath a new life in wc3 and clean blizzard tarnished reputation but hey at the end of the day we only can dream.
