Currently working on a Marvel RPG, heavily focused on Wolverine but also on Thing and Storm, and with Doctor Doom as the main villain. And while I manage to do a lot by myself and by what is available on this site, there are several things I'd need help with.

First of all, I have no idea how to make an alternate look for the in-game menus and such, nor do I know any name for it. I'd like a more urban look to it... and, also some fitting cursor to go with it as well.

Then there's secondly background music... I have no clue how to alter that either.

Thirdly, I'd need to one way or another figure out how to make a new loading screen work - either by some already existing image, or something I'd draw by myself.

And fourth and final, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions of the best way to make it appear like a person talks to you in-game when you approach them? Not meaning through speech, but through text... you know, like in most (at least earlier) RPGs.

Those are the things I'd need help with. I'm trying to learn as much as I can on my own, but, it's not so easy when you don't know where to in specific look for it. XP

Ah, text tutorials... I always had trouble with those. XP I tried reading through the UI tutorial twice now, but... I felt completely lost. I also tried to go to the UIs to pick out a UI just to see if I could understand better once I tried it, but it seemed like it suggested me to download a map as opposed to the skin files for it. :/

And I've tried to find the path to the current music. There's a TON of music showcased in the list of music that could be playing, and I have no clue which one it could be nor how to replace it. Not sure if I'd have to replace all of it or not, nor how to find the path to any random music I just happen to have on my computer.

... truth is, I'm very very stupid when it comes to these things. You should have seen me back in 2011 when I dared uploading a map here... it didn't just get disapproved, but people lectured the shit out of me for how amateurish it was to them.

I am very passionate about creating maps - working on all the characters with their unique traits and abilities, work on the map's layout and design and storyline... everything to make it an enjoyable RPG. But I lack the competence to do all of the more fine details...

That being said, I appreciate you giving me the help that you did now. And I hate myself for not being capable of comprehending it properly... >_< Honestly, it's a freakin' miracle I've managed to learn all the things I already know by this point to do in the Editor. Most things, I believed would be impossible for me to ever learn... but somehow, I did. But, can't do it with everything... as badly as I wish that was the case.

... jeesh, this turned quickly into a sob story. Sorry. XP

There is an easier way. Import the UI files ... got that part right? Then go to advanced. It's on the top tool bar of the main WE window. Click advanced. Now there should be a drop down menu. Are you there? Click on "game interface." Check the box that says "use custom game interface." Then scroll down until you find the UI. It will be called Image - Console - Textures. Change the matching ones to the new ones. For example, Tile01 should be changed to your new war3imported/Tile01.blp. Just switch them out. All good UIs will have the right names for the files. Match them up. Good luck.

To make the menus look more modern find the textures that are borders. You can remove them by adding a blank.blp (dud file in import manager) and then switching them out. You could also export the file and remake it with photoshop. Also, menu backgrounds and button borders, all of these things can be changed.

Sound is easy too. Just go to Sound Editor and import sound. The right-click the sound and select use as sound. Then go to trigger editor and create a trigger. Se the event to Time Elapsed 0.00. And create an action call play music and then select your music. I don't think this is a good idea though. Sound takes up a lot of file space.

You are never going to be able to figure out how to create dialogs if you still need help importing sound and textures. Try for now, just making a trigger that sends a game message. Then after that you might be able to make a trigger with an even that says "a unit is selected" and then plays the message.
