Greetings to the Hive,

Scalawag here, delving into the world of re-texturing models with Retera Model Studio. While editing textures feels like a breeze, I'm facing a hurdle with packaging them within the MDX file.

My goal: Import the model with the textures embedded, eliminating the need for a separate BLP file.

Question: What crucial step am I missing in the process?

Any insights or advice from the experienced texture wranglers out there would be most appreciated!

For the Sunwell,
Scalawag

Hello, let me help you clarify your issue because it is not clear to me :
MDX do not have an embedded texture, they contain a "reference" to an image which is actually a text path like "Textures/footman.blp".
In WC3 modelling, it is common to make a model that re-use the texture of the game so we do not need to import an external texture which would add significant file size to a map.

I am sheepishly admitting to a bit of a goof.

I was hoping to avoid separate BLP files by creating texture paths to existing Warcraft 3 textures within my MDX model. Is this the correct approach?

In essence, can I link to existing textures, or

Thank you I see now that you tap into the Warcraft 3 .blp but anything beyond that you would use a separate imported File! Thank you
