Hardcoded Ambient Sound?

If you pay attention to ambient noise, you can hear wind rustling, bird chirping and an occasional echoing dog barking sound. I really need this turned off.

• Sound - Set Ambient Sounds to 0.00%

As far as I'm concerned, this has no effect whatsoever, as well as any other volume channel. Any ideas?
