So...where to begin :O
GW2
As far as I heard, you can just get instant max level, and do PvP. That way, people are missing the whole fun of leveling, and learning the class step by step.
My rate overall: 2 : 2 => Equal.
... yes, that is correct, but people aren't forced to do World vs. World PvP. There is also an optional tutorial stage for players new to PvP as well. If people want to learn the class step-by-step, then they should start off with PvE first. If people want to rush in head-first without a thought and start taking keeps down with entire servers, then they're free to do so.
imo, GW2 wins here. It's fresh and new with some new changes to the previous benchmark laid down by, wait for it!, Ultima Online, Everquest and DAoC - WoW's predecessors. WoW was good in it's time, and still is, but it's stale and quite frankly the expansions are becoming more tiresome. GW2's combat is more dynamic, the entire quest system has been altered to a degree where we're no longer constantly doing the same task over and over until we're high enough for an instance. But it really just comes down to personal preference.
...
Okay, so I was gonna' do this whole thing where i'm coming back from being inactive and all that, waiting till Rui unlocks my thread till really gettin' my return out there and stuff, but i find your Argument here seriously handicapped Wolfe.
Therefore I find it my duty as a person with very high expectations of GW2 and an avid ArenaNet fanboy to explain how the person arguing against you here is utterly wrong.
So, first off, how the system works is this:
When you are in The Mists (The PvP Hub) you have everything unlocked.
All skills, all traits, all gear. Whatever you need, it's there.
This allows you to immediately jump into PvP the MOMENT you leave your race's initial starting zone.
If you go into WvW, leaving Organized PvP and entering the huge Serverscale fights, what happens is different.
Your stats get buffed to that of a lv 80, but you still only have the skills/items/traits of a person at your level. This means that you CAN participate in the fight, but there is a drive to at least reach lv 30 before getting in there and just spending the rest of your time in glorious PvP.
HOWEVER, and this is where your argument is flawed, this all dissipates the moment you leave PvP.
The way they have set it up seperates PvP and PvE completely.
You might count as a lv 80 in PvP, and your character might look totally buffed in the aesthetically awesome PvP gear (which however doesn't give him any actually better stats) that he spent all his glory (GW2's version of honour) on, but the moment he leaves the mists he's back at level 5 in PvE.
It is technically possible to level all the way from lv1 to lv80 just by doing World Versus World, as you do gain xp from doing that (which you dont get from organized PvP, you get glory) but i dont think anyone would want that.
So, yes. You can go and play PvP at par with the lv Eighties from Lv1, but the way it is set up it does in no way ruin your levelling experience.
And on top of that organized PvP even has a completely seperate levelling system that levels up your PvP badassness the more PvP you play.
