You can use an event of "Unit - A unit acquires an item" and add the abilities to the unit and the event of "Unit - A unit loses an item" to remove them. Saving the abilities' raw ids on the raw id of the item-type will establish this easily.
You can put those abilities in a Spellbook
To see what I meant, download the test map below
Known Bug: When you initially acquire the item, all 5 abilities are included. But when you drop the item and acquire it for the second time and beyond, the abilities are like messed up (sometimes only 4 abilities are included, sometimes only 2 abilities are included)
If a person (possibly knows ins and outs of Object Editor data, not Trigger) here can tell me why is that happening, I'd be grateful
I think it's because the "Minimum Spells" field is set to 1. Changing it to 5 makes it work fine.
This is probably just one of those weird aspects about the Spell Book ability.
Oh really ? Change the minimum spell and maximum to a same value ?
If that case, yeah Miles, just download the test map and go to Object Editor and tweak the Spell Book's data field to change the "Data - Minimum Spells" to 5
