What would be your favorite game review site of these two? Personally, when I want to read a review, I always visit Gamespot, because it's faster, simple, but still, it's a little harsh on the ratings. IGN on the other hand, is a far more advanced site, it looks better (slower although), has a lot more features than Gamespot, but it's pretty light on ratings.

IGN almost gives a higher rating to games than almost any other video game journalism website and second, it's the ugliest and messiest website I have ever seen.
Also gamespot is a video game journalism website only, IGN reviews movies etc as well.

I don't see how IGN giving higher scores is a negative aspect, how dare they not like video games. Their site isn't aesthetically messy as much as it functionally. I don't like the direction all of these sites are going.

And in terms of content and how in-depth articles are, IGN easily trumps Game$pot. Although the endless advertisement spam on IGN do make the comment sections almost useless.

I'll say gamespot although I've only heard their names, dont follow them. The reason: IGN made a sc2 beta key contest and they said they would give out keys and the contest was closed then 2 months passed and they didnt give anything. Was a disappointment back at those desperate times for a site with popularity.

It seems to me that IGN assigns only 1 person to review a game while gamespot has a team and by that gamespot is better... but gamespot is the biggest commercial whore i have ever seen, going even so far as firing employees for reviewing a game negatively after the game devs financed them.

*cough*Kane and Lynch*cough*

Also, what I meant by IGN giving too high ratings - WAAAY too much games get 10/10 on IGN. I mean, Majora's Mask? Sonic Pocket Adventure? Pokemon Red and Blue? Those are all good games, but they definitely don't deserve a 10/10.

@Joe-black-5: WTF does blistered thumbs and the Nostalgia Critic have to do with gamespot and ign here? :p
Well, whatever. It's cooler with IGN, since gamespot's people are just soooo big whores. They hear a well famous game, and rate it 9.5 at least. Fuck em, they're not that fair.
But IGN has a sooooooooooo bad search engine... I don't know if it's only for me, but it is just. plain. shit. So, I vote for gamespot.

Almost everything about IGN is worse than gamespot, except its reviews. Ign's reviews are very in-depth, and to my knowledge, they never give 10's unless they are truly earned. Also, if a game is really popular, they WILL assign more than one guy to review it. They had over 8 people review fallout new vegas, including people who didn't and did play fallout 3.
I pick IGN. They also are very good at leading up to new games.

Actually, about the 10's... IGN has gave out 3X more 10's than Gamespot, and rates games far more lighter.
