I am designing the layout and storyline for a first person arcade-type shooter.
I need some help with a few things though:
Is it possible (or plausable) to make it if you click, an action is executed. So rather then being stuck selecting a unit without the chance of missing, you can shoot anywhere and lose ammo anywhere.
Whenever you select a unit, and have a trigger to force deselection, is it possible to deselect is quickly enough that there is no delay? Or is this enivitable?
Specs:
This map will support a single player or two player co-op game. The controls are:
Select a unit (fire)
Down arrow (Hide & reload)
Left & Right arrow (Switch weapons)
Up arrow (Bomb - might not have this.)
Weapons:
Pistol (starting - 7 shots per clip infinite clips)
Desert Eagle (collected - 3 shots per clip 6 clip cap)
SMG (received via miniquest - 100 shots per clip 10 clip cap)
Machine Gun (collected - 100 shots per clip 10 clip cap)
Shotgun (received via miniquest - 2 shots per clip 3 clip cap)
Sniper Rifle (received via boss - 1 shot per clip 20 clip cap)
Neuclear Lazer Cannon (received via cheat - 1 shot per clip infinite clip cap)
Explination:
The game is played through a zombie infested city, in an attempt to survive, one (or two) men set out to blow the heads off the bastardly zombies and get the hell out of town. Weapons can be collected through miniquests (Yes! A first person shooter with miniquests! From save the vilager to kill the zombies!). Fight an array of zombies, and learn how they came to be!
Zombies (incomplete list)
Infestite (Weak zombie, takes one hit, but very fast)
Newly Bred (One hit kill, very slow)
Minion (Seems to be relatively inteligent and attack in groups, two hit kill, slow)
Youngling (A kid taken by the zombies, takes two shots, slow)
Lurker (Hideous beings like to hid in the shadow, there skin color perfect for the task, three shot kill, moderate speed)
Nercrolyst (A strange zombie that spreads the diesease very quickly, four hit kill, very slow)
Butcher (As deformed as it gets, extremely stupid and are always alone, seven hit kill, slow)
Other:
I'm not sure how long this game will be, but im going to put more work in it then any other game i have attempted to make. This is not a full list of things i intend to add, but it is some, bosses will come later. The game works by using cameras to move, and for every camera frame, zombies are spawned for every area. Some zombies will be random, some will be two player only, some will be esplicitly miniquest only, and some will be constantly there reguardless.
Well thats my idea, im working on the cinimatic now, anyone whos interested/has an idea/has a comment/anything along thoes lines: post here.
