Anyone know a FREE file converter for ms3d that... obviously takes .ms3d and changes it to .mdl?

It's called an exporter. There's one on wc3c but they're fixing something again.

Exporter is ok but they still haven't made a proper importer... always without the skins and mostly without the animations.

As RDZ said, the reason why we have to keep our models in ms3d if we want to edit something in the future. I've seen the following things about importing: Milkshape crashes if it tries to import some models with the skins so you have to import without the textures, you may have to uncheck more than the textures on the importing window that appears, it is like Milkshape can only import models without the textures and the animations and it won't crash. Also there are models with the meshes even if you don't upload the textures, errors occur and 'Cannot import' message. But Mshape is an excellent program I use it too. It looks to me more accurate and easy to learn than 3ds max and not with balls for spheres etc

It's more that the importer can't handle the super-massive campaign screen models, or things with more than one set of TVertices.

Otherwise, it's fine.

And Pyritie, the tut is to get animations into Max. I presume some jiggery-pokery could get them roughly (no scaling, or bezier/hermite shit) into Milkshape.
