BLPLab and MDXSquisher are your fatburners. Scaling textures down (replace 512x512 textures with 256x256) will also help a lot.

Environmental models can sometimes be replaced with doodad-art. Check out Sword & Stone modular manor, for example, it's a huge package containing very basic construction models that you can use to build houses and lots of environmental stuff without having to import new models.

Replacing those taxing B²M houses with Sword & Stone constructions will slim down your map a lot. If you have the patience.
 
As for models you can remove unnecessary animations via Mdlvis tool, it is really easy, especially useful for WoW models to cut down the size. Texture not only can be resized as Zwiebelchen suggested, it can also be saved with less percentage quality through BLPlab, it cuts lots of space in comparison with 50% to 100% quality with not so big visual quality loss to the texture.
 
Compress your files in your map to reduce the map size. Compression is a method used to usually decrease
the quality and file size of a file. Your map can be compressed and the files (imports) inside your map can
also be compressed.


There is not much you can do to compress model files.
