As a member of the group Map Reviewers, I will be reviewing Campaigns/Cinematics:

Review by Kael The Exodus Campaign Medieval / Warcraft Hiveworkshop Rules: You are not breaking any of the hiveworkshop rules. Terrain: The terrain looks good, you've recreated the ruined kingdom well and I don't think there are any flaws. Gameplay: The gameplay is great, there is a wide mission variety, from defending a castle or having to destroy undead posts. Storyline: The storyline isn't anything special, it's a generic one, with humans fighting against the scourge and trying to survive. Items: ------ Heroes: You do control a hero and also later one, you control a second one, but he dies. The hero does have a custom model and has his own spells and is not copied from an existing hero. Spells: There are no custom spells, I recommend you add some to make the campaign more fun. Imports: You have imported a custom model for the hero, but it doesn't look good at all, the head and the mouth are just ugly. I would also recommend changing the icons of wood and food in the missions where you don't have a use for them. Replay Value: Well some people might wanna play this again, but there is no real reply value. Overall: I guess this is an acceptable campaign, with a large mission variety, but it still needs a lot of improvements. Rating: 3/5 Status: Approval

It would seem that the most pragmatic course of action once the dead have begun to rise would be to make an exodus (and fast). Hence, we can tell from the outset that ‘The Exodus’ is going to be a logical campaign, at the very least. ‘The Exodus’ takes an alternative view of the Warcraft III storyline – which in this case means that it takes place in Lordaeron amidst several thousand screaming undead minions. We follow the efforts of the last pocket of human resistance – the Lordaeron Rangers – as they attempt to escape from the encroaching armies of the recently deceased.

Those who have played Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne will find much of the gameplay familiar. ‘The Exodus’ tends not to stray far from the standard real-time strategy mechanics of directing small armies, gathering resources and building bases. The author has, however, sought to embellish the gameplay through creative level design, so that at some points you will find yourself protecting a train of pack horses, and at some points sneaking into an undead fortress to sabotage their defences and unleash a back-door assault. The deviation from the typical strategy of ‘build base, train units, kill units, smash base’ makes the campaign feel fresh, and encourages the player to keep progressing through the narrative.

Of course, the narrative itself could stand a little more work. Our heroic protagonist is Colonel Reynart Alinthor – a man who appears to have only slightly more personality that he does hair. We are led to believe that countless years of fighting a losing battle have hardened Reynart’s heart and mind – but even taking this into account, he still lacks the necessary depth to make him a relatable character. The other main characters, Inaylia Aequaeth (another commander of the Lordaeron Rangers) and Eldin Tharennas (a priest of Dalaran) also suffer from this problem. There is an attempt at a romance between Reynart and Inaylia, but it feels incredibly forced – arising more from circumstance than from any real interest between the characters. The main issue with the story is the characters’ stilted dialogue. The text in this campaign has been translated from Polish and seems to have enjoyed an adventure or two along the way. This is unfortunate, because the author obviously has a flair for storytelling. As it is, the dialogue still makes sense, but it costs the campaign some of its richness.

As mentioned above, this campaign includes some very interesting modified levels. One of these involves protecting a line of pack horses as they make their way through the devastated ruins of Lordaeron, carrying with them precious supplies of food, wood, and gold. While the horses tend to be incurably stupid, and occasionally start walking in the wrong direction, and while the local undead seem to have a peculiar appetite for horse flesh, the system that allows Reynart to start and stop the procession at will is ingenious. It makes escorting the caravan – while still challenging – a whole lot less frustrating, and makes for a truly entertaining experience.

Chapter Five, as well, comprises a highly enjoyable assault on an undead fortress, requiring the player to first guide a spy deep into the enemy ranks to open a portal behind their defences. The resulting skirmish is unique in that it actually feels epic. The final stage of this chapter, however, requires us to train about fifty peasants in order to collect an exorbitant amount of gold and lumber – a task which is painfully dull when compared with the rousing battle of only moments ago, and for which we do not really need to be present.

In conclusion, this is a challenging and engaging campaign, let down only by some issues with dialogue and characterisation. It has a fresh feel to it and will keep you occupied for a good while. I would certainly recommend downloading and playing it.

its great overall, but i STRONGLY recommend you to change that main hero's model.. it is not warcraft'ish, and doesn't fit the theme..

That's strange... I didn't have this problem during tests. Maybe one or two enemy units stayed where they appeared so you didn't kill them.

Thanks for your comments. This is my first campaign I have finished and published on THW and I hope your suggestions will help me improve it . But why does it seem that these 3 votes have been added after finishing only 1-2 chapters of my campaign?

Hello. I was looking for a new model for colonel Reynart Alinthor and I didn't find anything suitable. I find this and this, but the former has got an awful portait and talk animations, while the latter - a strange shield. Could anybody recommend me any model for this hero? As I said, I don't want a holy hero, knight in shining armor, just a warrior.

Wasn't a that bad campaign... I think, you could have a little bit more work on the terrain... I would give 4/5 for the terrain...
A few custom spells would be also really good... But, you changed the icons, values, and the text, so, I give 3/5
The map, when you needed to defend for 60 minutes the tower, was almost impossible... I needed to put a lot of times the whosyourdaddy... Maybe slow the spawning a bit, or add more damage to their attacks... 3/5
A few more items more health potions, etc... would be good...
The story is a little sad, but i think, it didn't really end... Do you want to make a new campaign? Maybe a new ending with Lorderaon would be better... 4/5
Cinematics: 5/5! You could read them slowly, you could understand them, it was simply great!!
Story: There were some really exciting parts in it, like, when you needed to open the portal, that was exciting... You make maps, like Blizzard... Not many, simple triggers, you should build the base, and have your own strategy in it, you don't have all the time the rules, etc... Didn't play like these kind of map in months... 5/5
I found a little bug in the Castle Defense... i put iseedeadpeople on, and I saw, that the orange units were almost filled with the green base... There were like more, than 200 units! I thought, they will attack in the last minutes, but nothing... Should those 200 enemies attack you also? D
Overall Rating: 4. ((4+3+3+4+5+5)÷20)=4
Anyways, nice campaign, even for the first time you do these maps, and it was helpful, because, I trigger the whole map around, and I have already my first map on 5MB, and I don't even have done the 1/4 map of it, so... Thank you, for remembering me, that when my campaign will be ready, the people should play with them, not the triggers...

Very nice campaign, these are very rare to run across these days. I finally finished it and would like to suggest a few things now.

• 
  Heroes (In General):
  - They're good, but Reynart & Inaylia have too many offensive abilities compared to others who have none at ALL.
  - I noticed that the heroes didn't get saved from chapter to chapter. Why so? Need help with the problem or just lazy =P? Try this.
  - Some of the Heroes' ability descriptions are either wrong or barely described. How about fixing these by inclusing the correct Damage Done/Damage Increased/etc... Plus, try this Icon for the Drain Mana/Life ability.
  
  
  I found it here. Check the thread, maybe you'll find some interesting stuff.
  - During the cinematic in chapter 1 where the Paladin hero gets killed by a ghoul. I think you shouldn't actually "kill" the unit instantly, it would be cooler if you play his "death" animation maybe.
• Reynart:
  - Change the model, please. He looks like an overgrown bald leprechaun compared to Inaylia's model. I see you have your eyes on Levigeorge1617's Footman, good choice.
  - He has too many offensive obilities, how about removing either Shockwave or the modified Storm Bolt?
  - The ultimate..is.. well..crappy, no offense. I suggest making it a 4 leveled ability and replacing it with one of the offensive abilities. (Storm Bolt imo, because Shockwave is helpful against buildings and mass units.)
  - Keep Critical Strike, it will stack well with the new model. The ultimate may also be Bladestorm...
• Inaylia:
  - Like Reynart, she has many offensive abilities. Keep Windwalk, since it is necessary to use in one of the chapters but try to replace Shadow Strike with something more helpful.
• Eldin:
  - Dude, this guy has no offense, sure Holy Light can damage some undead asses every now and then but really, he needs some serious offense.
  - Keep one of the healing spells, Healing Wave imo for mass healing and SELF healing. Add a modified offensive ability, modified as in made "holy" to fit with the "Healer" class.
• Chapters:
  - Some of them were very unique and some were challenging. The caravan transport one was my favorite. Amazing work done on that.
  - The final chapter was long, too long.
  - Terrain was meh. Your hard work on everything else covered this.

Now that I'm done with my testing & suggestions, I give this campaign a 4/5. Good work my friend.

Chapter 1 - Nice idea, good terrain and a nice spacing of enemies. Have no problems with this map other then the undead ignored the first line of towers and ran right past them each time.

Chapter 2 - Right off the bat, my items didnt transfer over from level one which was annoying cause i had a Shield of Valor (or whatever it's called) which gave armor and 10% bonus to nearby ally damage... however after killing creeps in this level I ended up getting 2 Shields of Valor >_> noticed that you use the same 5 items (Healing Wards, Healing Salve, Heath Potion, Health Scroll, and the Shield of Valor) over and over... need to spice it up a bit and throw in some other items, and only 1 shield (or no shields but let us keep the Shield from level 1) .

Just a thought, perhaps you can make the undead a bit stronger in this level, have them attack a little less often, and make them attack the villages as well (also make the villages send out small counter attacks or something, nothing too powerful, but it doesn't make sense that the Undead would let all those villages sit peacefully and it doesn't make sense that the villages would let the undead sit peacefully either.

Also, since you only require 4 out of 6 pack horses to reach your base, perhaps you could put in some sort of reward for every extra pack horse you save. A little extra gold for a future level, perhaps an item.

Chapter 3 - Again none of my items carried over, ended up dying which sucked cause in Chapter 2 I ended the level with 2 shields (+16 to armor) and 2 sets of Healing Wards which would have come in very handy in the escort mission.

For now I'm going to give it a 2 out of 5, I like the story and the maps are good, but lack of item variety and losing all my items after each level is a major annoyance and costs some points.

I found a bug in the mission which you have to protect the caravan. During the last cinamtic, undeads keep attacking the caravan from the back and they kill enough pakhorses to fail the mission. Even if you put troops at the back, they seem to disappear.
I'm stuck, does anybody have an idea?

found a few more problems... in general your hero doesn't retain tomes from previous chapters either, at the end of chapter 2 my Hero had a 33 Strength, 21 Agility, and 950 HP, at the start of chapter 3 he only had 32 Strength, 19 Agility, and a 900 HP... for some reason your Hero isn't actually the same "Reynart" from each Chapter, its a new one and thus doesn't retain any items or tomes you get from previous chapters, which makes getting items and tomes rather pointless.

In Chapter 3, each time a new undead warning comes up the horses start moving again on their own even after I tell them to stop.

EDIT: Also, you should get rid of the swearing, seems out of place and ruins the whole feeling you're trying to make. or at the least, reword it so the swears actually sound like they'd fit, instead of just being thrown out to make it look a litle more adult (though it actually reminded me of a child swearing trying to act big =P)

It's a fun campaign, but it definitely needs some work.

For terrain, you should add more doodads. More mushrooms, flowers, shrub, etc. Bigger trees (or custom trees) would be nice as well.

There are no custom spells. This is not necessary, but it definitely makes everything more fun.

Every map should have an intro and ending cinematic. Some maps ddon't have either, I believe.

Grammar and dialogue seems fine.

Cinematics are fine, but pretty standard.

The difficulty is good.

But there are also some small glitches you should fix. Things like tooltips, quest messages (if you fail a quest, you get a quest completed sound), trained units (in the last map, I was able to build 2 Steamtanks; one with Barrage, and one without, but they were the same price), etc.

I give it a 3/5 for now.

Looking forward to your other campaign.



Edit: And for people being stuck at the barracks level: Scout the area for a bit. There should be some undead units walking around. Kill all of them, and you complete the quest.

i thought the campaign was pretty good. it was challenging, with some custom units and original and ingenious missions. the one where you have to defend shadowfang was VERY epic. i really liked it.

on the down side, the dialogue is a bit... odd, but that isn't ur fault. the terrain is basic and the storyline isn't original at all and in the cinematic 'before the battle' the reynart model is a bald guy with an axe.

i liked it anyway, but im easy to please.

@Ronald. in an earlier cinematic, she said that she wanted nothign more than a warm bed on a ship, and he said "me too, the same bed" (awesome pickup line though) and she said, "when this is over, we will be together" or some-such.

I have found two bugs:
1st map, when undeads are attacking Barracks little group of ghouls and necro are stacking under the bridge.
2nd bug When We are assaulting shadowfang keep, there are 3 potions in shop, but when you will buy one they will disappear. But anyway, its the best campaign, 5/5

Hi, i am struggling to pass the first level i think it is, i have to prepare for battle, and u wait for the timer, well i suck. please can you help me?
i dont seem to have enough floor space or people to take on all the other guys, there are too many orcs and undead it doesnt seem fair. any help please?

As for your questions about chapter 1 - it won't be easier in 1.2. Victory depends on how many troops you will save and how you use the 90 (in 1.2 - 120) seconds that are given to you.
