Hm, pretty nice. Simple, but Id say it is very useful!

RaijinSpark, simply NO. Adding a custom skin would make this model useless, as noone would import such a simple model if it had a custom skin.
However you could mean that he should use different skins from WCIII, to make the model look better. If thats what you mean, then yes. Using even a bit of other skins for the clothing would be great. For example find a different skin for the coat.

Yeap, much better. Since custom skin is well... custom skin. And custom skins in most cases arent the best thing for the model.
