Just for reference, I'd thought of the Guardsman as a more permanent unit, able to switch freely between combat and construction roles.

they could use different colors of beards. heck, you made them have different armor styles, why not include different beards too?

I would have edited the Attack animations to fit a Stand Ready animation with him holding the spear in both hands.
